Imitation of Life is obvious her trademark role, that she should've won an Oscar for, but her little moment in Frank Tashlin's The Girl Can't Help It is a scene-stealer. Her dancing to Eddie Cochran is such a 180 from her image in Imitation of Life.

RIP "Miss Annie".
This leaves Susan Kohner and John Gavin as the only two surviving cast members from "Imitation of Life".

I met her once at an audition in the late '80s. I was starstruck when I realized who she was, and I got to tell her how much I loved her performance in "Imitation of Life." She was a lovely lady.

My favorite all time movie is Imitation of Life, so this makes me very sad. Rest in peace, Juanita. You'll always be Annie to me.

She was a lot younger than I thought when she played Annie -- only 37.
Lana Turner was 38 (she almost always played older than her actual age, though), and Susan Kohner was 23, just 14 years younger than Juanita.
