From a friend who lives there:
"We're in the middle of the most appalling race riots. Between crazed "White Australians" and "people of Middle Eastern Appearance". People putting out their garbage are being bashed over the head with baseball bats by strangers screaming "It's my country, too!". Whole streets wake up in the morning to find their cars smashed in or torched."

And it's only been in the last 45 years that Australia has become diverse....there was a time when they had no tolerance for other races........
this is too sad.
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...
