I saw this on Gawker, and my head is spinning.
Just... wow. Such bizarre contradiction.
Politico.com and fivethirtyeight.com have both had stories about Obama canvassers being told, "We're voting for the n*****".
Well isn't that special?
Totally bizarre, but I can't help but be annoyed at the implication early in the article that flying a confederate flag automatically marks you as a racist.

True, taryn. Plus, the flag might be photoshopped.

I agree Taryn, not everyone who waves a Confederate Flag around is racist, they could just be proud of coming from the south, or honoring their long past relatives who fought for the Confederacy. However this whole thing is a little creepy, don't get me wrong, Obama needs all the votes he can get but for them to be voting for the "N****R" as they politely put it seems a bit outré (peculiar).
I don't get this quote:
“If you go to a white neighborhood in the suburbs and ask them, ‘How would you feel about a large black man kicking your door in,’ they would say, ‘That doesn’t sound good to me,’” said Democratic political consultant Paul Begala. “But if you say, 'Your house is on fire, and the firefighter happens to be black,' it’s a different situation.”
Is that supposed to show that they're racist? That they wouldn't feel good about a black man kicking in their door? I wouldn't either...I also wouldn't feel good if a white man kicked in my door, or an Asian man, or a woman, or a 10 year old child!!!
I think not everyone who waves the Confederate flag THINKS he's a racist - but he is. It's so easy for we Americans to attack intolerance in others but we so often ignore it at home. I just don't get how waving the Nazi flag is different from waving the Confederate flag or how being proud that your ancestors fought for the Confederacy is different from being proud that your ancestors fought for the Nazis. Yet if someone proclaimed he was proud of his Nazi heritage, he would (hopefully) be attacked. You cannot separate the Confederacy from slavery. States rights, Southern way of life, blah, blah, blah - it all means the same thing - slavery.
Besides the fact that seceding from the Union is about as anti-American as it gets, yet the Confederacy freaks are the first to jump up and down about patriotism and real Americans. Hypocrisy abounds.
Yeah, I don't care what color the big guy is. If he's kicking in my door, I'm not happy about it.
