I love radio shows, not lame talk shows, but true radio theatre. BBC has a lot of wonderful books adapted to radio, for example. But it's a dying art form! I want to save it! Anyone else a radio theatre lover? (I so want to voice one!) What are your favorites?
One of the great thing about Syrius Satellite is that they have an old-time radio channel.
As a side note: a friend of mine was listening to it one night, some 30s detective drama, and this ad (a real one; they somtimes intersperse classic ones for flavour, but this was a modern one) comes on for mens' jeans... "inspired by the art of Tom of Finland". I'm not making this up -- if you go to Randy's blog (www.coolcatdaddy.blogspot.com), you can hear it. Priceless, but all the more extraordinary that it ran on this particular channel.
Sirius has a channel devoted to only old radio shows of the 1930s-50s. Excellent quality and very enjoyable.
XM has one too and I listen to it all the time. I love the classic radio ads and the blatant corporate sponsorship of the shows. Nothing like a Lucky Strike jingle to get me in the mood for some Jack Benny!
