A very underrated actor. He's done some great work but his legacy will always be his portrayal of "John Walton, Sr." on The Waltons.

...and that's not such a bad thing, is it?

So much more than 'John Walton'. He was also "...a Marine, a social worker, an ordained Presbyterian minister who served two congregations, a book editor and a three-time Democratic candidate for Congress from California."

Seemingly an interesting and multi-faceted guy. R.I.P.

I worked with him once. Such an incredibly nice man. He said that he never expected to be committed to The Waltons. He did the original commitment because he needed the money to do something else and when he auditioned he didn't realize the show would provide him with steady work.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
