Random Snow Day...

So, my school NEVER gets snow days and then in the middle of March (week before spring break), we have a huge snow storm! Yesterday I was not wearing a coat...

I am loving this storm - because I leave for Florida on friday and it will only make me appreciate my time in the sun even MORE!!!!

I wish I got snow days. When you are working for anything other than a school, you don't get them. I get to wake up extra early tomorrow to shovel out my car so that I can get to work on time. It hasn't started snowing here yet but I hear it will soon.

Yep- snow here in NY. I got to leave school early- we're expecting around 8 inches.

And to think yesterday was sixty degrees...

My school constantly closes. This year we set aside 5 "real" snow days, and have since used them all. But we have 3 extra days to do what we want with (confusing, I know) so those are basically effective as snow days. We're also dismissed early very often (as we were today) and have lots of delayed openings. I feel like - this winter especially - I'm never in school. But that's a nice thing.

I grew up in Houston. No such thing as a snow day. But we did have hurricane days. Does that count?

I'm waiting for the snowstorm they said would hit the Boston area sometime this afternoon- I'd love a day off!

MisterMatt, I had a hurricane day once (in upstate NY)... well, the day of the hurricane my district actually had school, but they closed the day after. Ironically, the day we were closed was a beautiful, sunny day! It wasn't really a hurricane, more the storms that NY gets when a hurricane hits down south. It was a pretty severe one though... probably about 5 or 6 years ago.

I was studying at Circle in the Square when NYC got the edge of a hurricane in 1996. It was hilarious! I bought one of those cheap $4 umbrellas just to get to and from the subway station. I walked out of the store and the wind was blowing so hard, I pushed the button and there was a great FUH-WHAP!! The fabric and little metal arms flew off in less than 2 seconds and I was left holding a stick. It would have made as much sense to simply hold the $4 in the air and let go. It looked like something out of a Woody Allen film.

Got out early from school today too. Unfortunately I had to stay anyway to practice my skit for the classics fair....arg. I hope the roads don't get too bad, 'cause I'm supposed to go to the St. Patty's Day parade tomorrow!!!

Our school system was one of the few around here to stay open today, which sucked. But nobody cared at the high schools except the sophomores, cause they all had half days cause we had to take the Ohio Graduation Test. It was soooo dumb. I am soo glad we are done with them! And, we never get early dismissal.

i got out of school early so i'm here to say MERRY CHRISTMAS...until the snow ploughs attack anyway. (damn that groundhog!!!)

Havent had a snow day in years... considering I haven't been in school for years, that would make sense

Im really beginning to hate the sight of snow though. For you all in school it's great cause then you get out early... there are no early releases for the rest of us! (unless of course we're getting pounded with 5 feet of snow hahha)
