Hi Everyone,
I remember reading about a couple of places around town where a person can pay a reasonable amount for a small room for a short period of time, in order to warm-up your voice before an audition. (I think I read about this on here but have not been able to find the old thread.)
The places mentioned were close enough to some of the major audition spots that people are able to duck in and out pretty quickly. I think they were said to be near Ripley-Greer, Chelsea Studios, and/or the Equity Building.
Anyone have any idea about this? Even if you know of somewhere that isn't particularly close to an audition hot-spot, I would still be interested in hearing about anywhere in the city where I might be able to rent a small room for no longer than an hour to rehearse -- preferably with a piano. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Well, you can book a room at either Ripley-Grier or Chelsea studios for like $15 for 15 minutes there at those locations to warm up. Most of the time, for me and most people I know, I warm up before I get there so I don't have to worry about it. I am pretty sure that at Actor's Equity building, they don't have rooms available for you to "rent" out for a bit. some places might have a piano, some might not. you will just have to ask the people at the desk when you decide to pay for a space.
hope that helps,
John
Having just spent 2 weeks doing BAA at Ripley Grier, I know there are many studios where you could warm up. Majority of the smaller rooms that you would most likely use do have a piano.
A small room at R-G had not even occured to me. Thanks!
