I was recently listening to The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show and was struck by the extreme creativity and inventiveness to the rhymes and the beats. I know a lot of people here hate him but I really like how all of his stuff is from the point of view of a character that he created and he only lets traces of his real identity come in.
I dunno. Just something to think about.

I'm a fan. I suspect he merely holds a mirror up to society with the lyrics that offend women, gays, and people of color.
If not, he's an example of acknowledging art despite disagreeing with what that art says.

Eminem is absolutely playing a character, and while that character may share some of his emotional and political issues, his character(s) enhance them, it's a catharsis.
And even if he does feel that way, that strongly, then you can't just dismiss the art because you don't agree with his views. The art is there, and it's incredible, no matter which way you slice it.

a good chunk of what joe posts is reminiscent of a fuddy duddy who hates almost everything and doesnt understand all of these cotton pickin' new fangled weird ideas coming out of today's youth.
No need to be offended by these comments.

Who could be offended? That was pretty funny, actually.
And BK, do you even grasp the idea that all taste (including which artists are "incredible, no matter which way you slice it") is subjective? You can not empirically prove that your pet piece of **** doesn't stink no matter how many times you use words like Catharsis. You can certainly say I'm a fuddy duddy but opinions are not "right or wrong" no matter how many rock critics want to prove their street cred by sticking their tongue up Eminem's fetid rancid ass crack.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But you came into this thread and insulted people for their opinion. Doesnt feel good does it?
And I call you a fuddy duddy because almost everything you post is you bitching about something you dont get or like.
How about some joe posts that are positive? Tell us what you do like.

I haven't seen any recent photos, but per "The Advocate," he's looking a bit more like a peanut M&M these days than a regular.

My rap persona B Pryde has a lyric that goes "Darkie, Darkie, stay out the park, G."
Hey, it's just a CHARACTER.
