He Won!

Paul Potts won 'Britain's Got Talent' tonight, landing 100,000 pounds sterling, the chance to impress the Queen at this year's Royal Variety performance, and, what looks like, a recording deal with Simon Cowell.

More power to him!
Paul Potts in the Semi Final - "Time to Say Goodbye"

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I am so glad he won! What a voice.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

In a lot of ways his voice has more substance than Andrea Bocelli, but he needs to be properly coached. He is such a sweet unassuming man. I wish him all the luck!

Well, it WAS a British show. They aren't much into white, straight teeth, are they?

I'm so happy to hear that. When I saw a clip of his performance on the news, it gave me chills.

His Nessun Dorma on the Finale gave me chills. I couldn't find it last night, I'll look again.

Here it is!

ETA: The sound is a bit wobbly from 2:00 to 2:30 it seems, for me anyway.

ETA2: Actually, the sound is come and go throughout. I'll look for a better vid.

While there is some sort of an X factor thing with him, his voice is a little affected sounding to me. His pitch is suspect -- not exactly off pitch, but it takes him a sec to find the center.
