To the Families of Sandy Hook School and the Newtown Community:
The day this happened, I felt compelled to do 'something'. I knew the world would respond in a most profound way. Using my passion for the arts and the people who I know would feel the same way I contacted the Newtown Ct. Community. Several months later the result was a unique opportunity. I was fortunate to gather a handful of friends and put together an event to express to this community how my Broadway friends felt about you all. On Sept. 19, 2012 this came to fruition. We brought "Broadway Sings for Newtown", a fundraising concert to benefit the Healing Arts Foundation. This was by far, the most humbling, rewarding experience of my life. I will not soon forget the wonderful, resilient people I met in this community. My hope is that you continue to press on with the courage you display each and every day, accept the support you have been given, knowing that you WILL one day be reunited with your loved ones who are counting on your continued faith and endurance. In behalf of me and my Broadway friends who took part in this amazing, heartfelt night of joyful music, we salute you and pray for you. Much love, Pati Buehler
PS:Thanks to BWW's Gen Rafter-Keddy for your exceptional work as always, and your friendship!

Posted: 12/14/13 at 12:38pmThis rocked the whole world... my heart still breaks for the victims, their families and friends. Nobody deserves to go like that, least of all children. It infuriates me that nothing has been done to prevent this from happening again, but I pray that it will not.

Until we find a way to regulate gun control, our families will continue to live in fear. No one understands this more than the families that have been affected by this kind of life changing violence.
"From Broadway, with love" was supported by the creators of the 1214Foundation. "Broadway Sings For Newtown" was presented as part of the annual "Healing Arts Festival". Proceeds from this event goes to and directly impacts the Healing Arts Foundation, a facility that services the Newtown community bringing support and counseling to families through all art forums.
The people I've met from these events and from both organizations are some of the most giving, appreciative, supportive folks I've met. I am honored to know them and continue to support them in any way I can. Please visit their respective websites to offer your support. The Healing Arts Foundation has a FB page inviting everyone to get to know the victims and families of Sandy Hook and express your thoughts directly to the families to bring them comfort at the first Anniversary of this tragedy. https://www.facebook.com/HealingNewtown
