Not since toe-tapping Larry Craig refused to resign, has there been a more obstinate Republican!
If the GOP loses Missouri, it loses all chance of a majority in the Senate, and it puts the Romney/Ryan presidential campaign in danger of losing Missouri too.
Todd Akin says he will 'rush to the gunfire,' stay in Senate race
He Now Says He Was Talking About 'False Rapes'. Yeah, we all jumped the gun. False rape is a totally different story.

I need to figure out when the scheduled upcoming debates are on C-Span. No friggin way am I missing this! Even Mitt is calling for him to step down.
GOP jumping the shark on "legitimate" rape
So it is rare that false rapes lead to pregnancy? That the woman's body works against it? I am really confused. Oh wait Republicans think everyone is stupid!
Will be nice to have a Democratic Majority and a Democratic President for the next four years!
I think people are being overly optimistic that this will hurt his chance at winning the senate race. I'm sure his campaign is looking at polls that are making him so confident.
Maybe it will hurt Romney. But they are clearly making this an election about the base. Polls show there's only something like 3% of voters this election who are undecided. When Romney picked Ryan he gave up reaching out to the middle. The Romney campaign is betting on their base being more energized. I'm afraid they may be right. And that plus voter suppression might win them the election.

What Erik said. Plenty of people will be voting against Claire McCaskill, not voting for Akin (or whomever her opponent might wind up being).
As for the national election, I don't see Akin's comments making the state go blue for the first time since 1996.
Exactly, Phyl and Erik.
These people vote with hate, not understanding.
So they will be voting AGAINST what they don't want, with no comprehension or regard for what they do ... because they're too damn stupid to know in the first place.
It's all "God and Jesus and chicken sandwiches" to them.
I think a lot of people might be waking up on Nov. 7th saying "how the f**k did this happen?" Or "Canada isn't that cold these days right?"

best, I was thinking when I posted earlier that if people can be made to believe that buying chicken sandwiches is supporting someone's first amendment rights, then they can get over Akin's rape comments.
I know Missouri has only gotten it wrong twice in a hundred years when it comes to presidential elections, but since the last time was the last election, I'm not going to be surprised if Missouri's electoral votes go to Romney. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if Obama doesn't lose Missouri by a bigger margin this election.

Phyl, I think Missouri will go to Romney. And I think the Chicken Sandwich Brigade will vote with their cholesterol charts, not their heads.
Still, in the end, I think there will be enough sensible Americans in the states that have more that a half-dozen electoral reps to take the election.
But if anybody thinks it's "in the bag" for the incumbent, they are as delusional as "legitimate" rape.

Ever since St. Sarah Palin, the right has managed to whip up support in the unlikeliest of places. People vote all sorts of crazy ways. You never know till it happens. But crap like this whole "rape" discussion also gets those "I voted for Obama but he didn't bring me a pony" people back to the polls.
It's all about hate with them.
God Is Love (so sayeth the flower power movement of the '60s).
Jesus (at least in the red states today) is Hate.
Vote with Hate. It's not about what you want, it's about what you DON'T want.

I mean, most presidential elections seem to be marginal in which side winds up with the most (popular) votes, but the winner always thinks it's a "mandate."
Bryan Fischer today:
"Todd Akin is like a rape victim".
Yeah,he went there.

Still Standing

All this does is change the Missouri senate race from a slight GOP probable to a slight Dem probable. And once the dust settles, watch for the neocon PACs to jump back in with their money when it becomes obvious that this isn't a Dem lock. It may give Obama a slight opening to win the state, since Romney/Ryan won't want to go near Missouri.
It also makes the entire election about abortion.
PRS,
Could you make that picture smaller? It's impossible to read the thread.

"Now, who wants chicken?"
I wonder if it works the other way, too, like if a couple is all about having a kid, but just can't get pregnant because they like to role play... I am just trying to really grasp how this whole hormonal shut down really works.
Well... at least he has Kirk's support.
Kirk Cameron defends Todd Akin
I am not defending the man, but at the same time, I kind of get where Kirk is coming from. He would much rather be judged for his hatred of gay couples than that embarrassing banana video.

Akin is on the local news now. He's in it to win it!
