Republican Acrimony in Florida Primary
#25To hell with the DNC

I wouldn't say I think it's right, but they have a process and if Florida chose not to follow the process, then they take their chances. I understand they'd like more influence in the primary races, but they are already a battleground state and don't really need to flex their collective muscles.
I would also say your ire should be aimed at Howard Dean, not Obama. Or Hillary if she was in the lead.
Personally, I would seat the delegates, but they all have to wear a Florida uniform: Bermuda shorts, dress socks, sandals and then play each other in a Extreme Mah-Jongg tournament.
Like the cops in Thailand that have to wear those Hello Kitty arm bands.

Well who would you seat and how? That's what I asked you- would you allow the results of today's election be used to apportion delegates- after you told the candidates and voters for 5 months that it absolutely would not be used that way? That's no fairer than not allowing any delegates- which leaves us with a caucus or another election- which is what the DNC sked for and Florida rejected.
But more to the point- look at the title and what it turned into. This is how Republicans win elections. Because they see the "big picture" and will vote for a "good" candidate rather than stay home because the candidate isn't perfect.

And who turned it into that?
You 3 self-destructive Democrats.
If there's a Republican president in November, it will NOT be because of the evil DNC.
It will be because of you 3 self-destructive Democrats.

There may be no delegates , but Obama bombed in Florida.
Now I know the delegates will never be seated.

But do you see what I'm saying Marc- you can't run an election saying that there WILL BE NO DELEGATES chosen, then say "Oh, well, we are going to use those results to choose delegates"? And if you are going to choose delegates another way, then why did you fight with the DNC about it?
And Yeah, how did I get to be the destructive one? I'm the pragmatist here!

Posted: 1/29/08 at 10:20pmI'm sorry PJ. But in my own defense I'm not the one abandoning my party- I'll get out and vote Democratic even if we have a brokered convnetion and Mike Dukakis comes up the nominee.

Brokered convention...in my wet dreams, Al Gore comes riding into a brokered convention on a white horse!

Posted: 1/29/08 at 10:26pmSorry PJ, I expected more from my party than stripping a state of its voting rights because of their petty rules. Not surprising though considering the head of the DNC (Dean) is a complete lunatic.

I know it's not technically on topic, but it was really fun watching McCain and Romney snipe and peck at each other at the debate last night, with the other two trying to sound like they actually count any more.
Please ignore any of my previous posts. It doesn't matter what happens with the Florida delegates, I will do whatever it takes to keep any one of those 4 from reaching the white house. They are a scary bunch!
