It seems that the GOP may understand how it feels to be Nadered in November. They will most likely hold the senate, and I am hoping there is a chance they will still hold the house. It should be an interesting campaign season.
EDIT - "They" refers to the Dems.

Part of what makes politics exciting is you just NEVER know what's going to happen. You can predict to your hearts delight but you don't know what will happen until people go in that booth and pull that lever. Right now, clearly, the Republican's gambit is to use their total stranglehold on the media to keep beating the drum that Democrats have no chance in November and try to depress the turnout. Personally, I can see a lot of folks who were lukewarm on Democratic progress so far making sure to cast their ballot if staying home means Speaker Of The House Michelle Bachmann.

Another amusing tactic- In Arizona, Republicans have filed petitions to get homeless folks on the ballot as Green party candidates, hoping to siphon off Democratic voters. You have to ask, wouldn't it just be easier to have better policies and then you MIGHT win honestly?
Homeless on the ballot
I definitely think election night will be unpredictable but there will still be a lot of 'hate congress, love thou congressperson' going on. Still think there will be shockers, which I hope does not include Russ Feingold.
Anyway, Maher could not wait to talk about Christine O'Donnell who he used to have as his panelist on his old show. While he said she was nice (then again, this is the same person who is friends with Ann Coulter), he did say he would show more of these tapes of her appearances until she comes on his show:

Submitted for your consideration is today's GOP/Tea Party loon, Ken Buck, candidate for US Senator from Colorado. In a recent debate, Buck spoke out against the repeal of DADT, claiming that the military needed to be "as homogeneous as possible" (really, he said that). Buck is pictured here with his rentboy.

Really now? So should we kick out women, POC, non-Christians too?

I'm surprised he knows what homogeneous means. He's a hard-line anti-abortionist, too.
Even anti-birth control
Buck is among five or so GOP senate candidates who oppose allowing victims of rape or incest to have the option to have an abortion. I belive O'Donnell, Angle and Paul share that view, and I think there are one or two more. This is another example of what used to be considered extreme political positions being mainstreamed, much like ending programs like Medicare, Social Security, or unemployment insurance.

In fairness to the right wing whackos, it is the more consistent position; If you truly believe that glob of cells is a human being, you ought to protect it no matter what.
I wonder if other people who "bump" their own threads are regularly suspended?
