Resident Evil The Musical

I'm curious what the tone will be. Zombie Prom and Evil Dead were camp comedy. The games veer between being trapped in maze-like mansions and shooting hoards of zombies in the streets. Neither scenario lends itself well to the stage. Could a zombie story work as psychological horror on stage? Perhaps from the perspective of someone who is becoming a zombie or losing a loved one?
