Has anyone here ever met him or has any stories about him? I bought a book he wrote at a used bookstore over the weekend just because it was $1 and I have always found him interesting since seeing Myra Breckinridge.
I'm not sure if he reviews only film or if he has reviewed theater or not.

Posted: 6/2/08 at 8:06pmI met him at a party a few years ago. We ended up sitting at the same table for a while and chatted a little. He was very nice to this stranger.
A click for life.

I met him a few years ago at a fund-raising concert and dinner for Dudley Moore. I was at a table of 8, which included Reed and Keir Dullea. We had a very nice dinner and conversation.
Here he is on a 1969 Dick Cavett Show, when he was virtually everywhere. I don't recall him ever covering theater.

When I was a newbie in NY back in the '80s, I waited tables for a living... and I waited on him once. It was at Palsson's Supper Club, where they used to do "Forbidden Broadway." Normally, I worked upstairs where the show was, but that night I worked downstairs in the main restaurant. I was covering for someone, I guess.
Anyway... I spilled a cup of tea on the floor right in front of Reed's table. It didn't get anywhere near him, but he gave me a rotten dirty look. I was embarrassed.
That's all I remember.

I know Rex Reed is good friends with Kay Ballard and that he several years back was arrested for shoplifting cd's.
Man, that youtube clip of him on the Dick Cavett Show was something else. Came off as a jerk and a snob, IMO. Of course, he was much younger then. He was pretty good looking in his day.

Posted: 6/3/08 at 7:33amPlease tell me you got his novel, Romantico. I read that thing years ago, and it's a million times trashier than anything Jackie Collins ever came up with. Including bestiality!!!!! I don't remember specifics, or even the title of the book, but boy I remember hating it, and loving it! Let us know what you thought of the book.
