I love Rita's!
The flavors are all what you'd expect them to be, so what's good depends on your preferred taste. I'm a big fan of fudge brownie

OMG! Don't say that-please!
We don't have any here in Florida (a place where Rita's would thrive!) I miss that sooooo much like you wouldn't believe!
My favorite's are: Green apple, lemon and cherry.

Dollypop, that's what I thought...they make Italian ice, though, and this weird ice cream-ish-flavored thing that isn't really ice cream, which might be what they're talking about.

This is like Italian Ice but a good kind. lol
It's awesomely flavored 'ice water'....it's sorta like snow cones- in a way.
This stuff is HEAVEN though!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Depends on your preferences. I am not a big fan of the "Creme Ices" because I think those flavors just seem weird with water - like putting ice cubes in a milkshake! :)
My favorite is Vanilla but I don't see it very often. Black cherry is also pretty good. They give out free ice on the first day of spring every year. Last year we made a map of several Rita's in the Baltimore area and drove around eating ice all day. I was on a real sugar high but it was fun and we got to try all kinds of different flavors during our travels! :)
dollypop...water ice is basically what everyone else calls italian ice. the way it is made, however, makes it thinner and 'waterier' lol. It's really good, and Rita's headquarters are in my hometown so I'm partial to them
JL...I love it too when they give away free water ice on the first day of spring!!!
Also, Rita's started out in Philly, where water ice is pronounced 'wood-er ice'. LOL.

there is a ritas within walking distance of my school, and after softball games and play practice we walk over there: i recommend- anything mango or cherry.

I think what you're talking about is Rita's version of the Italian "gelato". It's nothing close to the original.
In Italy, there are gelaterias in every town. They sell the real thing and the flavors are incredible: melon, fig, watermelon, kiwi, etc. It's wonderful to walk down to the gelateria after supper, creatively order your gelato and then enjoy it in the piazza; where a fountain is usually spraying water into the air and cooling things off after a hot day.
I can't wait to get back to Italy in July!

You better believe it!
!
I moved down to Florida for college 4 years ago (from Philly.) I still say 'wood-er' and continually get made fun of!

Oh, it started in Philly. That explains it all! In Philly, it's not just the Liberty bell that's cracked.
Haha...yeah, in Philly we have this tendency to modify something that is already made, and then pass it off as our own
And that's why no one likes us lol.
SweetQ...where in Philly did you live? And do you also pronounce ACME, AC-A-ME? Because I do and I get teased all the time for it
who cares if it's not origanal! the ices are dairy free!! :)
I'm addicted to Rita's!
My favorites are green apple, raspberry, and grape. I love getting raspberry and grape together (they mix flavors if you want).

new_philosophy_girl- I still live there- when I am not in college. But, I live in Bucks County.
And I say ACME normal *I guess* I don't do the AC-A-ME thing.
Edit: I just looked at your profile. I know where Levittown is! Lol. My dad is a dentist in Croydon- I think that's near Levittown.
And, your son is adorable! How old is he (the paper boy)?

abba, if you're trying to avoid dairy don't get the gelati. it's really good but it's got custard in it. Otherwise, you should be OK. One thing I love about water ice, as opposed to italian ice is that usually in the fruit flavors its got little chucks of fruit mixed in.
Also, I didn't know water ice origined in philly. guess that's why it's so popular where I go to school (in Ewing).
SweetQ...thank!! My son is two and a half (he'll be three in August). That's funny that your dad works in Croydon, my sister lives there and so do a bunch of my friends. Where in Bucks are you at?
Sorry about the total threadjack

Yea, sorry for the threadjack.
When in August is his birthday. I wonder if he shares it with me.
Langhorne/Holland- Bucks County.
Maybe some people you know go to my dad as their dentist. lol
Sooooooo good.
Wow. I'm gonna be super annoying with the threadjacks here.
Em...is that pic from when Adam was on Cold Case? Because it's absolutely adorable.
SweetQ...he was born on the 12th. If you share birthdays with him that's awesome!! And I know a lot of people from the Langhorne/Holland area...perhaps we know each other through friends lol...anyway...
Back to the subject at hand (so it's not a total TJ)...Rita's is delicious!

new_philosophy_girl- I'll PM you- I think we've threadjacked this enough.
And your son's birthday is 9 days earlier.
Ohhh, there is a Rita's place near my house in Jersey. I didn't know what they had. I will have to check it out soon. :)
