I'm auditioning for Spring Awakening and one of the requests is to have a rock or alternative rock 16 bar cut. I'm a baritone that sounds more like a tenor and can fake my through sounding rock, but probably not hard rock. I have no idea where to start.

I wish I had a suggestion for you because I would probably be using it for my rock audition. Well, the most obvious thing would be to sing something off of a Duncan Sheik album, but I have no real example.

I wouldn't say that you have to sound "rock" for Spring Awakening. As long as you sound contemporary and not classical.

One of my friends has that kind of range and had success with "you and me" by Lifehouse at a mamma mia call. He got a few callbacks.

Maybe something from Rent? yeah i know it's bee done many times but it could possibly work, both shows have similar music.
