I've seen Flower Drum Song in HD, and it looks great! It's ready to go, too.

I'm surprised they didn't try to work out a deal. The recent Marilyn BD box set had licenses from multiple studios, as did the Hitchcock BD collection. So why not?

Has anyone seen King and I in Blu Ray? Is it new? Is it available as a single? My amazon search only shows DVDs .

I guess I will wait. I have the DVD and with my luck they will remaster the movie right after I buy it. I can't bring myself to buy anything else that includes yet another copy of Spund Of Music.

Someone on bluray.com that's working on the set said everything will get its individual release, though I'm sure a few months after this drops. I can't see this going lower than $73.99 (it's the deal of the week on Amazon) so I pre-ordered, even though I'll be getting 2 movies I have on blu. Ah well.

They want people to double-dip by giving them less content but higher quality?

I'm surprised Universal wouldn't work a deal on Flower Drum Song.

Universal reaped the benefits of including North By Northwest (which Warner owns now) in their Hitchcock box set. Why can't they loan a few titles out as well?

I'm glad I own the Sound of Music BD already with the extra disc (also BD) of special features. The new documentaries (especially the one with all the kids together) are great.

I will probably wait for an Amazon "Gold Box" deal and then grab the set. I'm most excited about the King & I, which looks stunning in HD.

And I hope they have improved the (truly terrible) transfers of Oklahoma! Both the 70mm and the Cinemascope looked awful for different reasons.

I'm horrified to hear about the King & I. I saw an HD presentation about a year ago, and it looked great! I certainly don't remember any blue tint.

The film itself tended toward browns and "sepia," but perhaps that was due to age, or maybe it was intentional. To "overcompensate" by giving it a blue tint is just wrong. I would love to see some frame grabs to check it out.

As for Oklahoma! that's great news. But King & I won Oscars for Art Direction and Costumes in a year that was filled with brilliant art direction and costume design. To see them with a good HD transfer would be dazzling. But not if everything is "blue." Ugh.

So I was really looking forward to this on BD. What's up with the blue???

By the way, this "blue craze," isn't new. Apparently William Friedkin was ostracized for tinting both The French Connection and The Exorcist masters for their Blu-ray releases. I've seen side-by-side frame comparisons, and they don't look at all like the original films! The blue filter fad is something that really started in the '90s and early 2000s.

Everything has that cold "Braveheart" tint to it. Great for some movies, but let's not be revisionists and decide that today's color timing is right for all past movies. It isn't, and they're wrong.

The King and I isn't looking good from what I've been told as well. Here's another screen shot.

The 1080dpi HD download I purchased.from iTunes doesn't have a blue tint and looks great..
