Roland Burris, Joke?

I mean this with all sincerity. Every time i see him on TV in from of the press he just seems so aloof. But worse than that, he seems to be reveling in the chaos of his appointment and the attention that it gives him. He just seems so unprofessional in every appearance I've seen him make (the press conference where he was announced, his appearance on NBC Nightly News last week and the Press conference he just had) he comes across as an opportunist and someone who will not serve the people of Illinois properly (not that politicians from Illinois being douche bags is new) but he comes across worse the Blago. It seems to me that any politician, any human, worth their weight in credibility would refused the appointment until Cursey McBuy My Seat stepped down or was force out.
I don't know, it may just be me.

He LOST the Democractic primaries for senator and governor (twice).
If he becomes senator, it will be the Peter Principle at work.
(If you don't know the Peter principle, it says that "In a heirarchy, one rises to their level of incompetence".)

All of the above is true but his appointment is legal thanks to the democrats in Illinois who did nothing to call a special election when they had the chance.

No, it's legal because that's what the Illinois constitution directs.
And Burris is a good man. He has lost in primaries, but never in a general election (Not that that means anything). Of all the names tossed around I think Burris is the best possible choice.

"No, it's legal because that's what the Illinois constitution directs."
I fully understand that it's legal because of the Illinois constitution. My point was that it would not have gotten to this point if the Democrats did in fact pass a bill calling for a special election as they had indicated they would. They were afraid that it might have been possible for a Republican to have won the seat so they decided not to and now have to deal with those consequences.
"I think Burris is the best possible choice"
Well, he would not even be in my top five to fill that seat.

What Governor Badhair has done to Mr. Burris is write the first sentence of his obituary.
"Roland Burris, whose appointment to serve out President Obama's term in the US Senate was fraught with controversy because Governor Badhair was under federal investigation at the time, died yesterday..."

So who would you all prefer? I didn't say he was my top pick but that of those considered I think he is the best.
Jesse Jackson? Emil Jones?
