It was a franchise so they produced each show locally. In the New York area, they had Miss Louise for awhile. This was one of my shows!!!! If the Doo Bee had said to kill my parents, I would have done it. When it was snack time and Miss Louise told me to go get a snack, I raced to find the peanut butter jar. I had every product they ever made: the Romper Stompers, the punching balloon, all of them. And yes, I was frequently seen in the magic mirror because I wrote in all the time. What a lonely, pathetic life I had as a child.
But then I grew out of my Romper Room phase and into the "Wonderama" phase. Anyone ever remember Bob McAllister and Wonderama? He'd get up there and sing:
Oh have you heard any good news today, today
I want to hear what you have to say,
Wait 'til I get to the count of three
And tell me all the good news you have for me
1 - 2 - 3
Then he'd stick a microphone in some moronic kid's face and the kid would say: "My dog had puppies". I was just waiting for the time when one kid would say, "My grandmother died."
From the lame Wonderama show came another show called "Kids Are People, Too" All these kids woulds sit in the audience and sing this lame song that went "Kids are people, too. Whack a doo, whack a doo". (LOL, you can't make this stuff up).
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
