I know.. =( I was just joking.. I love my Rosie O.
No one will agree, but I actually think she'd be a swell Edna in "Hairspray." I think Harvey is the last word in the drag version; he's truly incomparable. Why try to duplicate his magic? Rosie could pull off Edna's music, and she'd find ... shall we say ... the inner strength of the gal. And the vulnerability. She's very believable as this tough Baltimore blue collar housewife. I'm serious. I remember reading how gaga she was about the show, and alwas thought she'd aim for it. But then along came "Taboo."
It's okay, broadwayguy2. I'll let you slide, this time. Just don't say mean things about others. You don't want to get a bad reputation.
a "bad" reputation...
BG2 has a reputation... I'm sure it's not "bad".

What's up with Rosie hanging out at Martha Stewart's trial? Rosie can't play Martha, no matter how she tries.
Rosie is doing research for a new Martha Stewart musical:
TABOULI!
Line of the week, Sueleen. And it's not even about TaTaGate.
Gold Star for Sueleen !
I also think she would be a great Edna in Hairspray.
She would be the perfect Meersy.

Corine, one of the most effective aspects of Harvey's performance as Edna is that he is so maternal to Tracy. Can you see Rosie being "maternal"? Also, can you see her emerging from that can of hairspray at the end?
Truth be told, Rosie's a decent actor. Look at her in any of her films. ("Harriet the Spy," for example.) She's very natural, and yes, warm. Edna is no stretch. What Edna needs in a unsentimental, yet heartfelt presence. It would work.
I do think Rosie would be the perfect Mrs. Meers in MILLIE.

i agree with you corine2 about rosie playing mrs. meers. i saw millie last night and was alittle dissappointed with delta's performance as ms meers. she was very hard to understand. i also saw harriet harris and loved her in the part, so maybe i was not being fair ?
Cbrown,
As someone that has seen Millie five glorious times i agree with you. I saw Delta in the role. When i saw her i was very dissapointed. Harriet Harris was incredible in the role.
I also think Rosie would be a great Mrs Meers.
Then again i think i would also make a great Meers.

Dearest Corine,
I think you'd bring your won special brand of pathos to the line "So sad to be all alone in the world"--that is if you haven't been laughed off stage before you've had a chance to utter it.
