Now that was some good stuff. I hope this reunion format is here to stay.
^ me too!
Although a couple of the queens didn't say a word and/or didn't get any air time.
I may be out of step with the majority, but I thought that reunion show was little more than a parade of petty mean-spirited trashiness.

I thought it was necessary closure, which queens and fans both needed. I for sure wanted to see Charlie, Valentina, Nina, and Alexis called out for thinking they could get away with making excuses/disappointing fans.
Jaymes one line in the entire episode was hilarious. Charlie tweeted that Jaymes is hilarious, but was completely edited out of the episode.
PS - it is a reality TV show about drag queens. The rules remain simple (1) entertain, (2) don't take it too seriously.
No matter what the "rules" may be, there's not really any need to descend to such depths of pointless trashy nastiness - except to appeal to that lowest common (and I do mean "common" denominator of trashy viewers.
This reunion had nothing on the cattiness of Seasons 2 and 3 (or even Season 5 with RoXy and Jinkx). The girls (correctly) came for Valentina and Charlie, but no one called Val a "complete bitch" like Tatiana did Tyra in Season 2.
Personally, I loved it. This season has felt a little light on the drama, heavy on the sob stories, so getting some old-fashioned drag queen bickering was fun and a needed relief. I particularly enjoyed Miss Coulee and (shocker!) Farrah Moan, both of whom were certainly not interested in holding back. I also thought Eureka was a lot of fun, and I'm excited to see her next season.
A bit off topic, but this is hilarious! Alaska, Ginger, and Katya on @Midnight

Holy mother of...! That episode, sigh. Loved every second of it. <3
Yes!!! Sasha!!! I'm not sure hanging the entire season's crown on a series of lipsyncs is putting the emphasis where it should be, but there's no denying that Ru made the correct call in each of the sync-offs tonight. That rose petal gag was perfectly Sasha and perfectly right for the song. (Wonder if it would have worked so well if they had been performing the other song choice.) And then that stunning face peel-away for the second number. I would have thought Sasha's skillsets wouldn't have put her on top in this but I just couldn't look away the whole time she was on stage. They really got the crown on the right queen this time.
Most exciting finale the show's had in years. I agree that I'm not sure it's a format I'd want every year, but with such an evenly matched Top 4, it was the best way to judge. I love Trinity and Shea, but Peppermint and Sasha truly brought their A-Games when it counted, and that's what matters most. Sasha deserved the win, and what a thrilling hour of television.
BraveSirRobin2 - I want spoilers from the taping now, if you don't mind sharing. Did they tape a version with Shea and Trinity winning their lipsyncs too (and pitted against each other)? The lack of reaction when they were told to sashay away makes me think yes but who even knows with Ru.
Folks on Reddit said they didn't film Trinity or Shea winning. That, to me, explains why Shea was so testy at the reunion (especially on the subject of lipsyncs)- she knew she lost the whole thing.
^ Doesn't make sense, since didn't they film the reunion in the afternoon prior to filming the finale and before the audience was let in to the Alex Theater? No-one would have known how the lip-syncs would turn out at that point.
I'm pretty certain I read somewhere they filmed it the day following the finale taping.
^ Wow. If so, that would be absolute torture for both the winners and losers in the final 4. I frankly can't imagine any of them choosing to participate at that point. (Who the hell would even want to take the trouble to get back into full drag the day after?)
Well, a contract is a contract.
Yes, a contract is indeed a contract. And the big money comes right after as you get to go out on the tour with rest of the queens and build your name.

Sasha's the most satisfying winner for me since Jinkx Monsoon. Time will tell if she's as multi-talented, but it's nice to have a victor with style AND substance. That's not to say Bianca and Bob don't, but they were front-runners from the word go. Jinkx and Sasha are happy surprises.
The tour's coming to Orlando in September and I just may have to go. I always told my partner Jinkx would have to come down here for me to head to Plaza Live or Parliament House, but seeing Sasha in person would definitely be worth the trip.
I like how casually you refused to acknowledge season 7
Hey y'all1 They didn't film wins for Shea or Trinity, just an option of Peppermint winning. And yes, this all happened in front of an audience. Honestly we all collectively lost our sh!t when Peppermint and Sasha did their reveals, especially since Peppermint's fabulous performance and reveal was unexpected.
Our viewers felt that Trinity did a better overall sync than Peppermint; when it began, we all said, "that's the best costume Peppermint could come up with for a finale?" Because it was just awful - clunky, ugly, making her look fatter. Of course, the costume change was spectacular. Unfortunately, we all felt that's ALL she had for that sync - a great costume change. But, of course, you can't have two white queens as the finalists, and Sasha was (we thought) a given for the win. Just a brilliant performer, in a completely different world from the others.
Anyone have an idea why Shea, the clear and deserving front runner through most of the season, seemed to not give her all in the finale? Her opening black gown/ wig ensemble was among the weakest she's ever assembled, and her lip-sync cat suit was smart and sassy but had no secret surprises that every other queen thought was necessary for a finale performance. I'm thrilled Sasha took the crown, don't get me wrong, but thought that dynamo Shea would give her a much bigger fight for it.
If I were to bet, I'd think Shea felt she had it in the bag since she'd racked up the most wins and was a fan-favorite. I could see her thinking that the lipsyncs wouldn't count as much as they did- plus she never saw Sasha lipsync on the show, so it's doubtful she knew what was coming.
It also wouldn't surprise me if talking about her father and sister threw off her game. Not that Shea isn't a professional, of course, but after talking about such a difficult time I can see how it would be that much harder to bring it like she needed to.

They've been performing together for quite sometime now, with all season 9 promotional tours etc. I doubt this was the case.
Surprised this hasn't been brought up. Anyway, due to the rousing success of Drag Race on VH1... filming this summer is being modified. Season 10 was originally planned to started filming next week... but AS3 will be filmed first in August instead with Season 10 filming in September (likely why DragCon NYC was moved to early September). Stop reading here if you don't want information about queens who have had appearance cancellations
1. Morgan McMichaels, canceled a Pride Montreal appearance on August 17th
2. Bendelacreme, canceled summer residency in P-Town with the club citing All Stars specifically and was pretty pissed about it
3. Valentina, is MIA from the Season 9 tour
4. Trixie, her schedule is empty from August 7 to August 25th and has apparently expressed that she wants to do it
The following I don't have specific cancellations for but they've been highly rumored and talked about
5. Ongina
6. Chi Chi Devayne
7. Milk
8. Trinity K. Bonet
9. Kennedy Davenport
10. Thorgy Thor
I am here for it and I'm riding my Morgan train until I die. (If Acid isn't on the season).
I'm thinking AS3 will either air this fall or March (Season 10 would air next fall in that instance). Either way, there's no way AS3 is waiting until next fall to air otherwise they'd of just kept there original schedule of filming Season 10 this month and film AS3 after.
