Draft Dodger who married his 2nd cousin??
from wiki:
Controversies
In addition to disagreement with Giuliani's political philosophy and actions while Mayor, critics have raised other charges of dishonest or unethical behavior.
[edit] Avoidance of military service
Some have claimed that Giuliani was a draft dodger during the Vietnam War era, by getting an unusual deferment from a friendly federal judge after his original two student deferments had run out. [74] Critics further state that Giuliani hypocritically prosecuted draft dodgers later during his time as a U.S. attorney.
[edit] Annulment of first marriage
Some claim that Giuliani knew all along that Peruggi was his second cousin, and simply used that fact as an excuse to get the marriage annulled. According to Fr. Alan Placa, a Catholic priest and childhood friend of both Giuliani and Peruggi, Rudy always knew that Regina and he were second cousins.[citation needed] The three friends (Giuliani, Peruggi, and Placa) vacationed together as children, and referred to Regina as "little cousin". Peruggi was the daughter of Giuliani's father's cousin.
[edit] Business deals
Forbes reported that Giuliani Partners also accepted fees from penny stock firms, made alliances that have gone nowhere and formed pacts with businesses and individuals that have come under scrutiny by regulators and law enforcement officers. [75] For instance, Giuliani Capital Advisors accepted 1.6 million warrants from Lighting Science Group at 60 cents, a fee of $150,000 and a promise to raise cash. The company went bankrupt, losing $412,000 on sales of $137,000 in the first part of 2006. Another venture CamelBak, started out under Giuliani's consulting arrangement with $31 million in sales, but was run into the ground with various missteps, including having the disgraced Bernard Kerik sit on its board. Forbes said Giuliani's most controversial deal was throwing in with a 2004 project with Applied DNA Sciences. Its backer, Richard Langley Jr. had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and commercial bribery in another penny stock scam. [76] [77]
Re the matter of the Draft
Where is this different from what William Jefferson Clinton did? Just curious
Good luck trying to find any politician ( or person for that matter) without a skeleton or 2 in their closet

I have no idea what will happen in the primaries, but the thought of Obama vs. Guiliani is an intriguing one to me--both of them would be likely to win substantial crossover votes. I honestly couldn't predict the outcome of that contest.

"Rudy, a president for all"
Well, if the US were made up of rich white men, then yes, Guiliani would be a president for all.
Plus he is a nasty man. Ask anyone who lived through eight years of petty meanness in NYC when he was Mayor. God forbid any member of his administration received praise that Rudy thought was his. "Thanks a lot and out with the garbage."
This is not a liberal or conservative thing. He is psychologically unfit to be president. Rudy has to be a big fish and in the comparative little pond of NYC, he was awful enough. On a world stage, no way.
You read it here first.
"Do you blame Bloomberg for Shawn Green?"

"Where is this different from what William Jefferson Clinton did? Just curious"
On the off chance this is a sincere question...Both Guiliani & Clinton worked very hard to avoid the draft. Clinton was a Rhodes scholar and recieved a student deferment that was typical for Rhodes Scholars. Guiliani was a law clerk and recieved a "One in a Million" deferment. Actually, that description is overly generous-- as far as anyone can tell he was the only one to ever recieve a "Law Clerk" deferment. But yes, they both called in favors, fudged the records and did some creative lobbying to stay a civilian.
I think the real issue comes up when Guiliani served in the US attorney's office assigned to prosecute "Draft dodgers" who had done things remarkably similar to what he himself had done to stay out of Vietnam.
That's kinda what i figured papa...of course, then I had to try to imagine what Shawn Green could do to get shot...maybe he and his friends were carrying on too much after shul...
WOSQ - I agree - Rudy is just a nasty, little man. Luckily , he almost always puts his foot in his mouth and most likely he'll do himself in.
I was incorrect. It was Shawn Bell
Mea Culpa
Thompson/Guiliani: the ticket for success in 2008. The democrat party will go totally nuts when they lose another Presidential race in 2008.

Luscious! We were on the same page I guess...perhaps this explains the lisp .
In a letter to its members Friday, the International Association of Fire Fighters, excoriated Giuliani for his November 2001 decision to cut back the number of firefighters searching the rubble of Ground Zero for the remains of some 300 fallen comrades.
The 280,000-member union accused him of carelessly expediting the cleanup process with a "scoop-and-dump" operation after the recovery of millions of dollars in gold, silver and other assets from the Bank of Nova Scotia that had been buried.

I see you are taking orders from the namonster...
Thompson/Guiliani '08
That sounds like a great liberal ticket.
Although I do appreciate what he did for the city as Mayor & after 9/11, if I were to vote I could not vote for him
Having said that, I think he will get the nod & Repulicans will hold their nose & nominate him . The only question is who would be his running mate. Would Mc Cain take the 2 nd slot ?
What do you think of Thompson?
If you refer to Fred Thompson, he is able & capable. What help he would be to Guiliani I do not know. Guiani would put NY in play & that in itself would be a major factor.
My guess is he needs someone to appeal to mainstream republicans from a big or strategic state. It should be interesting
