Okay, this link contains an ENORMOUS SPOILER, so read at your own risk.

Even though this is a movie that I don't have any desire to see, I still think it's incredibly rude to divulge such a big element of a movie. But Rush Limbaugh isn't exactly known for his tact, is he? And as I said, it's an ENORMOUS SPOILER.

Rush was not the first - there have been other conservative people who have adressed the central issue of this film. But, he is the one who will get the most visiblity.

I mean, it sucks, but it's not like it should be a big controversy. I strongly dislike Limbaugh, but atleast here he apologized.

However, to those who haven't seen this movie, you absolutely must. It's far superior to THE AVIATOR and RAY, fellow Best Picture nominees.

Jesus tap dancin' Christ, is Michael Medved STILL going? And I can't quite believe Limbaugh's reading of the "message" of the movie. Talk about being way WAY off. Shame.

I loved "M$B". It is my #2 film of the year (right behind "The Aviator"). Those who have any doubts about seeing it: Go see it. There's no reason why you shouldn't.

I didn't read the spoiler, and I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will say that I remember listening to my morning radio show one day and one of the hosts gave away the ending to SIXTH SENSE. I heard not one peep of an uproar about that. And I was pretty annoyed - never did see the movie because what would be the point after that?

Actually, the spoiler has been all over the place. Lefty Radio tag team Don & Mike spilled the beans too. Rush isn't the only one. But really, your uproar is justified... seriously... it is. No, I'm really serious. It is.

Same with me. I stupidly spoiled the end of Swimming Pool for myself, and I was bitter for days about that one.

I don't even like previews at the movies because they show so much of the film. And don't get me started about MOW's where they show upcoming scenes as they're going to commercial!!! UGH!!!!

Quite honestly, I'm not sure why this is considered a 'secret' - it's just a plot point in a story. I don't see it as something like Sixth Sense or The Crying Game. I feel like that commentator may be on to something with the idea that they don't want the subject matter disclosed and potentially alienate customers.

I love this film and had no idea about that part when I saw it, so F*CK him for saying that. I think everyone should see this film.

It started with a sipmle idea, collecting one paper clip for every life lost, the feelings that connect us...are greater than those that divide us!

BTW, Ross and everybody, see this movie. It is so good and moving. I don't know jack about boxing or care, but this movie is so so so good.

That's the same reason I've never seen Fight Club. It's one of those movies I kept meaning to see, but they gave away the ending on TV, and now I have no urge. Still bitter about that.

Films like The Sixth Sense and Fight Club play well when you know the secret--because you see how layered things are--particularly performances.

sadly i always figure out the play's/film's big secret b4 every one else & only amuse myself my waiting for everyone elses's reactions. Just saw "Take Me Out" here in TO (excellent production!) & knew the minute that Billy Budd was referenced somebody was gonna..... (###) *Sigh*

Some things you don't see coming...

The idea that MILLION DOLLLAR BABY was created with any agenda is beyond even the divisive climate of these times. Forget the fact that Eastwood is a Republican (which didn't help him these days), what's startling is the new, constant MO in some right wings circles, to interfer with/denounce all other points of view, no matter where they surface--i.e. even in a damned sweet-natured, father/daughter story set in the boxing world, about as apolitical and agenda free a story/milieu as one could imagine. The story's conclusion is about a character's loving reaction -- not a director's attempt to impose a POV.

So now we will see popular art subjected to a conservative agenda litmus test? Movies are a populist entertainment, a 'uniting' element in our far too divided culture. It's painful and infuriating to see them muddied by such tactics.
