just arrived at my front door....WOOHOO.....the saga continues!
first chapter..The House of St. Glinda.......
now the big decision...do I read Wicked again, and then this? Hmmmmm.....probably should as what sticks in my mind is the show, and the book is vastly different

Posted: 9/28/05 at 8:01pmI didn't realize that the release was upon us. I'm definitely going to re-read WICKED first, though.

Loved Wicked and want to read it again some day.
Confessions was great too.
Anxiously awaiting your reviews of SOAW.

Glebb, have you read Lost or Mirror, Mirror?
I hated Lost, really, really bad....
Mirror, Mirror I liked, just never finished it....I need to start that again too.
Guess I'll re-read Wicked first........just love that beginning when she's up in the tree

I own both LOST and MIRROR MIRROR and need to finish both.
I like them but have had things get in the way.
WICKED was hard to put down. Will always be one of my favorites.
WICKED and Confessions are best.

your loss......one of the most interesting and unique books I have ever read. I I thank my stars I read it before I saw the musical, or I would have thought the musical was all there was......and the book is so much more

Posted: 9/29/05 at 1:13amI just bought SON OF A WITCH tonight. It was kinda weird... I didn't expect the book to be available until October. The bookstore I bought it at had bazillion of copies on audio, but had one hardback copy in the science fiction section. I just thought that this was strange.

Three books by authors I like have come out this month: Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon, and Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. I'm at college with little time and little money, so the latter two will have to wait. No beating Neil Gaiman.
I'll probably get to Son of a Witch and Diana Gabaldon's over Christmas break.

Posted: 9/29/05 at 2:53amThis is irrelevant, as I have no interest in reading this book, but I cannot wait for John Berendt's CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS to come out...11.5 years between each book is too long for me to wait!

I just finished it. There are still some questions asked, but I liked it overall. I wish it could've been more descriptive in some parts... you'll know what I mean when you get there.
I don't think the novel had a proper ending. I hope there's a third installment to answer the questions being asked in my head. I'm going to start and reread the book tomorrow and see if I neglected to read a sentence or two, just to make sure.
It seems that only Elphaba and I own the book. You people need to go out and buy it! Or atleast check it out from the library.
(I hope there isn't a musical based on this though...Even fluffed up I don't think it'd be that good.)

Posted: 9/30/05 at 11:12amI'm about 50 pages in. I like it so far, but I'm just not as attached to the characters as I was with Wicked.

Posted: 9/30/05 at 12:26pmI tried reading WICKED a while back, and I got about half way through and put it down. Nothing about it interested me, and it could not keep me entertained. Don't know why.

Posted: 9/30/05 at 12:28pmI definitely see it as an acquired taste. It seems that people either love it or hate it.
