re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

I confess, I haven’t enjoyed the last two STAR WARS movies as much as I did the first trilogy. I think the knowing what is going happen (in a vague way) kind of ruins the story for me. I also really could have lived with out Jar-Jar Binks. Still, I will see the last movie at some point. I just don’t know if I will go to the theater to see if or wait until it’s released to DVD. The last one was so loud that my head ached for about an hour after I left the show. Special Effects are GREAT--to a point.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

When it became all too clear that Lucas has been living in an ivory tower waaaay too long. He can't communicate with actors, clearly, and the dialogue doesn't sound the way anyone would speak anywhere. Never been a CRAZY Star Wars fan, but I do love the Empire Strikes Back...one of the great science fiction films ever....and Lucas didn't do the script (Lawrence Kasdan did) or the direction (Irvin Kirshner)....the new film? I'll ignore it.

I believe Harrison Ford told Lucas once during the filming of the original series, "George, you may be able to type this crap out, but there's no way in hell anyone can act it."

I've never cared. In fact, I've never even seen these films. Not a one. I know, I'm a bad movie buff.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

I missed this post the first time around:

As a seven year-old when the first film originally released, I can say that no other film since then has brought as much excitement and entertainment as Star Wars. It was truly a magical experience for me. I remember the lines around the block, waiting three hours to see the film and the burst of applause at the end of the film. I don't think anything released in theatres since then has come close to matching the thrill of the release of the first Star Wars film. It was monumental and unforgettable. I truly loved the original trilogy, but have been disappointed in the prequels, especially in the casting. One of the things that made the original trilogy so special was that none of the stars were well-known, which stamped the originality of the characters who were not clouded with preexisting roles or celebrity status. In that film, the actors truly were the characters and the two were inseparable. The new trilogy's biggest flaws were putting "names" into the film which detracts from the fantasy of the fictional world.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

My younger brother is totally obsessed with Star Wars. He hasn't stopped caring at all. In fact, I already bought my tickets so I can take him to see the 3rd one for his birthday. This kid got the box DVD set for Christmas this year, and slept with them for 3 weeks straight.

If there was a StarWarsWorld.com message board (there has to be one...) I know he would be posting under the name LittleJedi6691

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

The original Star Wars was the first film that transported me anywhere. Still the best trilogy or serial film of all time.
The new ones definitely suffer from bad dialogue but the plot lines and the ways Lucas has tied these past things together with the films we know and love are interesting and sometimes very clever.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

Okay, I admit it. I love 'em. I've been obsessed since 1977! My absolute favorite is the Empire Strikes Back, but I would watch Harrison Ford read the phone book! Episodes 1 and 2 have not been up to the standards of 4, 5, and 6 (don't even mention Jar Jar Binks), but I hold great hope for Revenge of the Sith. No matter what the reviews say, I will probably be there on opening day with my two oldest kids--yes I have infected them too. My only regret is that the single screen theater with the HUGE panoramic screen where I saw the other 5 episodes has now closed, so we are stuck with the multiplex.

Waiting for May 19.

Please don't throw me off the board!

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

My favorite was Empire Strikes Back. It almost seems as if the story lines got weaker as the special affect got stronger. Neither the characters, nor the actors portraying them were very compelling.

Even though I've been disappointed by the 2 most recent ones, I'm still a fan, and will see the new one in the theaters.

Prequels/Jar Jar <-------when I stopped caring.

Oh, and the NSYNC cameo rumor then turned me off a little more.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

I don't think I need to say so, but I have never quit caring! While the two latest movies kind of sucked I will be there at midnight to see episode three, just like I was for one and two. Please let it be good enough to erase the crimes of Phantom Menace!

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

I stopped caring about the series three-quarters of the way into Star Wars: Episode I--The Phantom Menace.

re: STAR WARS -- When did you stop caring?

I will admit, I never stopped caring, I am psyched for the last movie, I think it will be much better than Episode I and II
