Bradford High School in Wisconsin is puttin gon Sweeney Todd and is scheduled to open January 13th. Supposidly the production is working its way up to try and get to the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln Nebraska. What do you think about this? Can a highschool really handle Sweeney Todd? The show said to be the most challenging and most amazing piece of literature ever written for the broadway stage? Sondheim is known for writing mature works, can 14-18 year old kids handle it?

Well, we shall have to see. But doubtful.
I could see any high school with enough talent in the pool able to perform SWEENEY TODD. it just wouldn't be any good. it will look and feel like every other high school production: amateur. my concern is just that it's a long show. I feel bad for any audience having to attend a high school production of a 3 hour plus Broadway show. it must not be very fun... unless, of course, your kid is playing Lovett. then, whoo hoo. yay for you. LOL
It IS bad for any audience that has to sit through a three hour plus show.
My theater group (comprised mainly of high school students) did a show that ended up to be about 3 and 1/2 hours long. Needless to say, many seats were empty by the end. :P
Yeah what Priest said.
It would have to be better than all those poor high schools that have tried to do the watered-down version of Les Miz.
