re: sad decision made this morning

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had to put my cat down 3 years ago. I couldn't bare to be in the room while they did that. I always wondered if she was afraid. When you make a decision like that, it's totally out of love. Your cat was lucky to have an owner who cared so much.

Animals bring people together. When you are up to it, I suggest reading the book "Marley and Me" by John Grogan. It's about his relationship to his destructive, rambunctious, and yet totally lovable and loyal dog. The last chapters deal with this very subject and its so beautifully written.

I was crying and hugging my cat while I read it...telling him how much I love him...and he was biting me. Such love.

Elphaba, you poor thing.

I had to put one of my cats to sleep, it was the hardest day of my life. Cats aren't just cats they are part of your family and when you have lived with one that long, it's like loosing a family member. I'm looking at my other cat right now and I hope I can have him as long as you've had yours.

I'm so sorry and I hope you can get through this.

I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to read "Marley and Me." I just know it's going to be devastating.
And damn it, now I'm a mess too! I'm going to go hug my cats and my dog...

re: sad decision made this morning

I have an 80lb boxer and because of this thread, I got home and gave him a bigger hug and a bigger kiss...on the lips (no tongue). He gave me a look like "step away from the doggie, loser"! I have thought about you all day Elphaba. I hope it gets easier for you.

Elphaba, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a terribly difficult decision to have to make -- my condolences to you.
