That shaky cry in her voice gets me every time.
As I was just posting, I think Struthers reached her Zenith as a performer when she was just another leggy dancer on "The Smothers Brothers Show" in the late 1960s.
Okay--now go ahead and FLAME ME!
I can take it!!! :)
I bow to her legendary Strutherness...she rocks...

*pulls out blowtorch*
Who caught her story arc on General Hospital a couple of years ago as the evil yet kooky Jennifer Smith? Her scenes with Anthony Geary were hiLARious.
Struthers was NOT the original choice to play Gloria in "All in the Family."
Originally, the part was slated for Rob Reiner's then real-life wife, Penny Marshall.
However, it was ultimately determined that Marshall looked too Jewish to be a "shiksa" Bunker, so they went looking for a blonde-haired, fair-skinned actress.
And thank God!!
I'll drink to that!
I live for her Still Standing episodes. Fabulously funny.
Check this out, from her IMDB listing:
Where are they now
(August 2003) Playing Dolly Levi in Bloomington Civic Theater's production of "Hello Dolly" in Bloomington, Minnesota
That must have been wonderful!
Sally Struthers as Dolly Levi?
What's next, Kirstie Alley as Momma Rose?
This is an appreciation thread, ME. Appreciate!
Sally was playing Miss Hannigan in ANNIE several years back at AMT San Jose. I went to the show, hoping to get a good laugh at what a mediocre job I expected her to do. I got a good laugh alright, several hundred of them, but they were all because she was freakin incredible and had me gasping for air every time she was onstage. She was awesome. Stole almost every scene and is probably the best Hannigan I've seen live.

...and ya know something else? Kirstie Allie as Mama Rose is not the WORST suggestion I've seen on these damned boards...
Keep on topic, redhot, please.
OK, I'll Appreciate.
I Appreciate the fact that she "borrowed" her crying jags from Lucille Ball's. :)
She did the voice of one of the Dinosaurs, I don't know about anything else. Check IMDB, I guess...

I have to say that when Ms. Struthers appears on the "Gilmore Girls" it brings a little smile to my face.
I LOVED Sally in that Lifetime movie, In The Best Interest of the Children where she was fighting with Sarah Jessica Parker for custody of the kids.
Rathnait, Sally was the voice of Charlene on Dinosaurs =)
and while she was still playing gloria stivic on "AITF" struthers was the voice of a teenaged "Pebbles Flintstone" on the saturday morning cartoon: "The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show" Updated On: 11/5/04 at 06:09 PM
EverythingisRENT, I LOVE that movie!! I watch it absolutely every time it's on. It's also some of Parker's best work, in my opinion.

Ms. Struthers is participating in the Actor's Fund benefit we're going to tomorrow night, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her. All in the Family is my favorite TV show, and she was absolute perfection on it.
Yes, actually, DGrant's mention of that benefit on another thread is what ultimately inspired this one! Thanks, DG!
Struthers starred in the TV series "Gloria"--a one-season wonder.
A friend of mine worked with her last summer in a production of "Annie" where Sally played Miss Hannigan. They said she was really good.
