I know she was also very popular with the cast of the 20th Anniversary National Tour of that show. Everyone loved her.
Struther's last film was the classic HOW TO GET THE MAN'S FOOT OUTTA YOUR ASS (2003).
She received 15th billing.
I forgot she did the tour of that show.
Yes, Carter did it on Broadway in the 20 Anniv. production. I saw her - she wasn't funny - she played Miss Hannigan as mean, with no humor whatsoever. And certainly did not enjoy Struthers-level popularity with the cast.

Speaking of "The Getaway," I remember being shocked, as a young person, by her explicit sex scene with Jack Nicholson in "Five Easy Pieces." Does anyone remember that?

Not only was Struthers not the first choice for Gloria, she wasn't in the original pilot either. Gloria was played by Candace Azzara, who will be familiar to couch potatoes for numerous sitcom guest roles in the 70's and 80's. More recently, she was the mother of Annie, the best friend on CAROLINE IN THE CITY, and this past year, she was "Housewife God" on JOAN OF ARCADIA.
Struthers is currently a hoot as "Babette" on GILMORE GIRLS.

Sally guests on Still Standing again tonight. Catch her if you can - she's fabulous in this role!
Another genius performance from Ms. Struthers on Still Standing this evening. She is truly one of the greats.

I'd like that show more if Mark Addy could do a better job of hiding his British accent.
