Miss Pennywise and...er...Mr. Pennywise? are indeed terrific parents who are raising two very brilliant children. Children who treat others with respect and compassion. The exact opposite of so much hate and ignorance in the world.
I know that everyone is entitled their beliefs and opinions blah blah blah, but I firmly believe that parents like Miss Pennywise are the right ones.

Well, when I was in kindergarten the idea of kissing (EW! YICK!) a BOY, ohmigosh, was enough to make me vow that I'd never get married. Something in me doubts that the average kindergartener would be any more squicked out by the idea of gay marriage than the idea of actual marriage itself.
Then again, I may be wrong. The 90's were different times, my friends.
Juuuuuuuust puttin' that out there.

Posted: 7/27/08 at 12:59amThe wonderful documentary "It's Elementary" (which, of course, caused a major conniption by the religious right) makes the point that several kindergarten-age children are already living in a household with same-sex parents, and that situation needs to be addressed in the classroom so the children aren't shunned or teased by their classmates. The film shows these issues being addressed very simply and sanely in classrooms, without bringing sex into the discussion at all. It's lovely and rather inspiring that the children shown seem to accept their classmates with "two mommies" (or whatever) without any baggage or self-consciousness (unlike many, many adults.)
