I've never gotten to see Sandy Duncan in a musical, but I've read about how, with her Charleston, she stole the 1970 revival of "The Boy Friend" from from the show's "name" star "Laugh In"'s Judy Carne and I've read about how terrific she was when she played Roxie in "Chicago", and I've seen clips of her in "Peter Pan", but I've never seen her dance.
I found this clip of her on the Julie Andrews variety show from the '70s

and I find myself watching her and not Julie in this. I think, "My God! She has IT! This woman can really dance."
Just want to take her by the shoulders and give her a good shake while yelling "What were you doing in Hollywood all those years?!? You should have been in New York doing musicals!"
Someone mount a show for this woman!
She was wonderful in the recent Encores No No Nanette--there's a BWW video with great footage of her.

Yet another military kid from TX who can hoof and sing.
She looks amazing in that clip, but I think it may be a little late for someone to mount a dance show for her. She was very energetic and entertaining, but she actually fell twice when I saw "No No Nanette." And remember that's falling while performing Randy Skinner choreography, which of course consists of nothing more than standing in place with a stiff upper body and a stiff smile while performing the most elementary tap combinations over and over and over (and over and over). She still looked incredible and got right back up both times. Quite a trouper and a brave performer, apparently. I wish we had more footage of her dancing from back in the day. (Look at those kicks!)
Years ago I saw a Christmad revue in Chicago starring Duncan and Darlene Love. I really enjoed it.
Frankly, considering that she is a dancer and Julie is the singer, I don't really see where she has it all over Julie in that number. But I love Sandy, and saw her in both The Boyfriend and Peter Pan.
She was terrific opposite Tommy Tune in the tour of "My One and Only" in the '80s.
I think she dances pretty damn well for someone with no depth perception. The woman has only one eye... or did everyone forget that over the years? She has a glass eye, ala Sammy Davis, Jr. It was common knowledge, back in the day.
There was also a punk band in L.A. in the '80s called "Sandy Duncan's Eye."
I kid you not.
That would be absolute news to me. She still has both her eyes. She lost sight in her left eye, years and years ago, during the run of the television show, Funny Face (or whatever that show that was supposed to star Melba Moore was called). In fact, she married the surgeon who actually saved her eye. She even has full movement of it. But, yes, she does dance EXTREMELY well for someone with vision in only one eye.
Sandy's bio from the Playbill for No, No, Nanette:
"SANDY DUNCAN (Sue Smith) has appeared on Broadway, in concert, on television, and in the movies. She has worked in tours, in summer stock, and in regional theater. She has been nominated for the Emmy twice, the Golden Globe twice, and the Tony three times. She has never actually appeared in an Encores! show. And, contrary to urban myth, she does not have a glass eye."
...And Richard Gere and the gerbil were merely acquaintances...
Are you insisting that she does have a glass eye, or that Richard Gere did, in fact, shove a gerbil up his ass? I'm confused.
Now I'm thinkin' Sandy's glass eye and Richard's...
The gerbil's name was Sandy Duncan?
No, no. Sandy Duncan put a glass eye up Richard Gere's...
