Currently appearing as Laura in THE GLASS MENAGERIE (best part of the show).
Hot or not?

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:34pmI love the icon, CQ. Sarah is giving a tour de force performance as Laura. I didn't really care for the production itself, but she is just....amazing. She should've been nominated for a Tony.

Cherry seems to think so
And MEF - I DID like the production - a lot - and Ms. Paulson was very much a part of the reason why.

It has some major flaws, but it's not the total wash that most of the reviews (both professional and from board members) had said it was. Paulson is, without a doubt, the best part of the show, and really holds the audience captive every time she is on stage.

I couldn't take my eyes off of her in Menagerie.
Her performance should have garnered a Tony nomination.

and she was darling as Vikki Hiller in Down With Love...

She absolutely deserved a Tony nod.
And she's downright evil on Deadwood!
A QT to boot

Posted: 5/12/05 at 10:43pmDitto the Menagerie raves. Saw her at a reading Monday night where she was channeling a bit of Laura, but was enjoyable nonetheless. Totally robbed of a Tony nod...by Heather Goldenhersh?!?!? *shakes head*

Jerby - I'm going to end up writing a Menagerie post yet

I loved "Leap of Faith" and "Jack & Jill" too!
Madame X, which reading was it that she did?

what didn't you like about her portrayal of Laura?
I think she suffered from bad acting around her. Josh Lucas was the weakest link of the bunch and the gentleman caller scene got chuckles in the audience, which I found disturbing.

It was "Middle of the Night" by Paddy Chayefsky - put on by the Roundabout. Other people involved in the reading were Ron Rifkin and Isabel Keating.

Posted: 5/13/05 at 10:33amActually, I thought Josh Lucas was the best thing in it. Slater was a miscast misfire, Lange was totally ghastly and Paulson a misdirected mishap. Had it not been for my love of the Lucas, I would possibly have left at intermission.

Pop - while I EMPHATICALLY disagree with your assessment of the production, we do see eye-to-eye on at least one thing

I agree with Pop. I wanted to like her, but that groany monotone made me want to smack her. The whole production was terrible, and I'm sure there was misdirection and other elements that led to her performance being the way it was, but I just didn't like her.
It completely went over my head that she was Vicki in Down With Love. I love her in that!
