I have never seen this movie and its not on dvd and I have not been able to even find it on tv or cable. Since I am a die hard fan of "Last of Sheila"and Stephen Sondheim's dinner mysteries I have been told this is a film I should see. Anyone know if this will ever make it on dvd? I have a list of about 10 films I have been waiting for to come to dvd and this is one of them. It looks like it might be fun!

I loved it when I was a kid, but I have't seen it in probably twenty years.

I heard it was a lot of fun. It has an incredible cast as well!

Oh Oui my Montclair!

it is hilarious, and made in San Diego, which was a gas as we watched some of it being filmed.......

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

It's a cute movie, with a great cast, but it's not the first movie I would think of to recommend for someone who liked The Last of Shelia. Outside of clues to finding something and Richard Benjamin, these films have nothing in common, especially tonally. With Last of Shelia I'd recommend something more like an Agatha Christie adaptation, Scavenger Hunt is more like one of the Neil Simon comedies Murder by Death and The Cheap Detective (both hilarious by the way, also with amazing casts).

I killed the boss, you don't think they're gonna fire me over a thing like that!!!!

Love this movie. I would be so happy to see it on DVD. I have a crappy taped copy, but it is really difficult to watch.

I have a copy in roughly the same shape, and it has been watched about 100 times since we taped it in 1983 or whatever. I made my wife sit through it early in our marriage as a way of sharing something from my childhood. It didn't hold up nearly as well as I had hoped, though. She wasn't the slightest bit amused. We still quote a few lines from it, however.

"It can't see! I have no holes!"

"Ooooh, Mr. Parker...."

In response to the question about the "meecroscope": "It can see things, very small, like your brain."

(in a French accent): "Why don't we put our troubles under the meecroscope to make them smaller?"

(in a Spanish accent): "Chew stole an ostrich?"

Seeing it as an adult it's kind of a dud, but man I loved that movie as a kid.

The same thing happened when my husband watched it. He couldn't believe I thought it was at all hilarious. Oh well.
