In that case I think this has the possibility to open up the abortion can of worms, but there will and should likely be a distinction made between abortions made before and after the third trimester. It does set an interesting precedent though.

I honestly had a pit in my stomach listening to it being read! I thought he would go free after the juror stuff and the fact they had yesterday off.

That's true. It's just that I come in contact with Pro-Lifers pretty much on a daily basis, and I know a great deal of them are going to use this case as support to eventually ban abortion procedures. Scary.

Justice was served indeed. Hoping time will heal the wounds of both sides of the family. 2 lives now are with God and forever free of pain.

We must remember that this guy also has a soul - apparently evil and temptation had taken over it - I'm hoping time will forgive him. Cheers are not necessary. We should mourn the idea that this guy lost everything that is good in life. Sad, just sad indeed.

I do not think he cares nor ever had any remorse...he might now since he got caught, BUT only cause he got caught. he thought he was going free the SOB! Cheers i think are normal and should not be shot down! Justice was served and now he can served his time.

We here in Modesto are relieved. Justice has been served. The first police to arrive at the home then night she was reported missing knew then that he was guilty. Now a jury has concurred.

My brother-in-law's cousin was one of the officers. Additionally, two officers who work at our school -- D.A.R.E. officer who is the police spokesman and the officer who supervises school safety patrol -- and I occasionally chat and they've offered tidbits and concur. Overall, we all feel very sorry it ever happened.

Do they feel like the investigation was botched? I watched the trial proceedings more closely than I watched the investigation, and it seems like there were plenty of errors made on all counts, but you know how the media is...

"hope he fries" Jeez, I'll never understand how anything besides sadism can be behind support for the death penalty. A prison sentence will be enough -- especially since there's always the chance of evidence surfacing to vindicate him, just as there has been for so many other people executed.

Crimes against an unborn child have been on the books in many states for many years. They contain Nonliabilty and Defense clauses similar to:

ACTS COMMITTED DURING ANY ABORTION OR ATTEMPTED ABORTION, WHETHER LAWFUL OF UNLAWFUL, IN WHICH THE PREGNANT WOMAN COOPERATED OR CONSENTED.

THE CONSENSUAL OR GOOD FAITH PERFORMANCE OF MEDICAL PRACTICE, INCLUDING MEDICAL PROCEDURES, DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT, THE USE OF AN INTRAUTERINE DEVICE OR BIRTH CONTROL PILL.

JUSTIFIED USE OF FORCE AGAINST THE MOTHER THAT CAUSED DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY TO THE UNBORN CHILD.

I don't fear Pro-Lifers affecting these statues. These laws have been very carefully worded and have survived legal court cases setting precedents. And this is just the type of case where a crime to an unborn child should be charged. When a husband wants to "off" his wife and soon to be born child.
