Where is the outrage over the Best Picture loss? Is it because the academy is still homophobic or have we forgiven them with Penn's win?
I couldn't decide if I liked Sean Penn or Frank Langella more, but I'm happy he won.
I have not seen MILK so I cannot compare the two.
Besides MILK, 3 other pictures lost. It was already known it would win. There is nothing sinister behind it.Nothing would have stopped the momentum Slumdog had.
I was hoping Milk would win just because the upset would have made for great television. But I did love Slum.

I'm outraged!
Wait, which thing am I supposed to be outraged about now? (it has been too long)
Let me know and I'll take off my pants and run through the street screaming.
I thought the speech was great, funny and political and continuing what seems like a moderating of Penn's persona.
I thought his performance in Milk was extraordinary, especially since I am not always as impressed by his roles as most.

He was pretty wonderful in it. I don't think I've ever seen his smile so much as he did in that movie.
I am certain that I have not, and I loved it.

I also thought he was sexy in the scenes where he had the long hair and the beard. I was like, "Mmmm, Daddy!"
I'm mad as hell and blah blah blah blah.
Im all raged out kringas darling. Between Prop 8, and Fred Phelps and that silly twat on the corner always yelling about how fags will be the death of our nation and that the only way to save this land is through God i'm spent.
Phyllis, I'm outraged at all Slimedog's wins!

"continuing what seems like a moderating of Penn's persona."
That even he acknowledged. I can't say I've been a fan of his public persona (don't know him personally) - but I've always been an admirer of his willingness to 'put his money where his mouth is'.
This statement of Penguin's seems acurate to me - and I can't say I'm not intrigued by the development.
Just to go off for a moment on the signs saying Heath is burning in hell for playing a gay role. So let me get this straight - playing an evil maniac who kills people, incites chaos, blows up a hospital, tortures others, and all because some people "some men just want to watch the world burn", that's completely alright. But playing someone who is in love with someone else, that's the hell-worthy portrayal?
Well at least these people have clear minds and all. God at least be consistent with your idiocy.
Sorry, tangent over. In other news, I was beyond surprised by his win (I assumed Milk would lose everything, even though I thought Penn was a smidgen better than Rourke and that Milk was a thousand times better than The Wrestler as a picture) and really loved his speech. Y'know a lot of people are talking about how he shouldn't have used the word hate and that they voted the way they did because they believe that way. Well I'm sure those who fought AGAINST civil rights and didn't want women to vote or really be treated as anything but property, I'm sure they at some point had their own ways of justifying those disgusting deeds as well. Only time can eat away at the hideously shallow excuses these people arm themselves with.
