In a galaxy far, far away, the "Search" button was believed to be an indispensible little button. In an unending effort to improve their quality of life, generations of "BroadwayWorld-ites," The Ites," increased their knowledge of everything that mattered, of their anscestors, and even of those who came before, by using "Search."
"Search" was kept in a a special place, free to all who wanted to avail themselves of its immense power.
One Spring Break several years ago an odd and strange group flew into the world of The Ites. These were the "I'm-20-something-Or-Under,and-I-Don't-Need-To-Search-ers." The "Ers" were cocky without any foundation, and tore through everything in sight.
A battle is raging. The Ers have refused to use "Search," and have been discovered attempting to invent the wheel, and in making unsuccessful efforts to match song lyrics to odd and stray song titles but not relying on "Search." The Ites are determined to show the Ers how "Search" works, and how it can be their best friend.
Once they learned of the "Search" button, however, the Ers were determined to steal it, and destroy it, so that no one, evermore, would be able to tap into it's powerful brain. The past was of no use to the Ers.
Only today mattered...

That's why I must repeat my little request from before. Jose, USE THE FORCE: make this thread stay at the top. I know you have been trained well and that little "incident" with Namo, the basett hound, and the loofah was only an aberation. You can do this, or we all lose.

Is one of the weapons a little sticky thing that makes post stick to the top of the page? I have seen that in use...

Even knowing the exact title of a thread doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to wade through a bunch of threads that might have only one of the words you typed in your search.
I recently went searching for a thread to check something, and found that the title had been changed to a simple period. A plain old .! Weird, huh?

I would agree that there needs to be some kind of Booenan (sp is totally wrong there) system to search for specific phrases. Or maybe a seperate "thread search" feature that only pulls up the main thread title.
As is it will just pick out every word you enter, but still if the thread in question was posted recently it is not that far away and just takes a little time to avoid silly overlaps. Some of the complaints about threads that are months old not being revived are a little silly (unless it becomes easier to accomplish)
To search the "off-topic" board you click search from the "off-topic" page, it even says at the top "off-topic search" The same proceedure on the main board.
That has worked every time for me.
I think bwaygirl that the person who went to the . was trying to get the thread lost.

To bump and shill for two more great aspects of the search feature:
Have a poster you love or HATE? look at all their latest posts by putting in their exact username and scrolling to "posted by".
Have a particular day or week or month you think the info you wanted was posted? Use the start and end by options!
I just looked at all the DRS reviews from when it first opened by making March my cut off!
Search is great, EVEN for those of us in the 20 something or under category!

During the raging battle some Ers converted to the "old side," the side of the Ites. This caused the chasm to grow even wider between the Ers and Ites. The Ers referred to those who converted as "Verters." Some Verters worked surrepitiously, ever mindfull of keeping their cover, They knew that if caught the punishment for being a Verter was far greater than death. The punishment was "ostracism"--life in a no-man's land. Shunned by the Ers and not accepted by the Ites, who still viewed them as 20-something-or-unders parvenus to the land of BroadwayWorld.
There was one Er who trusted the courage of his/her convictions, and publicly identified him/herself as a Verter...
