I don't know if anyone else here has heard of this website - www.secretsandy.org. It's a group put together to help those who have lost so much to the megastorm have Christmas presents this year. Each person who registers is assigned a family to buy gifts for.

I'm putting this out to all of my "groups" to see if there was anyone who might want to "pitch in". I can afford to do it myself but I just thought if I got a group together we could get some nice stuff for whomever I'm assigned.

Trust on the internet is a risky thing and if no one wants to trust me my feelings will not be hurt. But I just thought I'd throw it to the wind and see which way it blew.

Now this is a good idea to raise money for or to donate stuff to. I wish I had money to donate. But, I will at least pass the information along to people who want to help, but have no ideas on how to.

What I'd really like to do is adopt a family as a group because when you sign up you're not getting a single kid like with some other groups but a whole family that can be any size.

If each person gave $5-$10 my hope is that we could get a nice sized pot together and give someone a better Christmas.

There's a 4-5 day wait on getting a family so I don't know how many people we're dealing with yet.

I posted about this at another message board but someone complained and it was removed. So, my circle of possible donors has shrunk. The pot hasn't budged since yesterday and I've been reaching out to everyone I can think of.

If you can give anything please PM me...$5, $10, etc. Know that you'd be helping someone this holiday season

Okay, folks...I'm being told will be assigned a family for "Secret Sandy" very soon. So that means the donations need to step it up! We're still holding at $175 and we need more than that. Please give ANY amount that you can. Please help me give a family that lost EVERYTHING a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

My mother has thrown in an Amazon.com gift card so that brings the total raised to $204.55 for the Secret Sandy gifts. I already have a bunch of stuff in my Amazon.com shopping cart if anyone wants to throw in some last minute donations.

Just wanted to say thank you once more not only to the people who gave but the people who passed the info on to others. I was able to send $200 worth of toys and games to a school in Rockaway.

If people are still interested I'm willing to do another load.
