Seussical Audition...

I have a Seussical audition coming up in about a week for a community theatre that I've worked with since I was eight (I'm 14 now.) The singing is basically a capella (you CAN bring sheet music for the accompanist if you wish, but it's rarely done) and I'm auditioning for a Bird Girl or the Kangaroo.
Here's my problem. I have two songs that I cannot decide between using - Taylor the Latte Boy and I Want More from Lestat. "Taylor" shows off my voice nicely, but it needs accompaniment or else it seems too safe. I don't own the sheet music for this. (If you have it, could you maybe PM me?)
"I Want More" is one that I can belt the hell out of if I'm warmed up, but I'm just really iffy on using it for this show and theatre.
I'm torn between these two but really just need more opinions. It's not like five other girls will show up singing "Taylor," since very few others really KNOW musical theatre, so I doubt anything is going to be overdone.
Thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind, haha. I'm singing I Want To Go To Hollywood from Grand Hotel instead. Thanks for the help. :)

"Thank God I'm Old" from a 14 year old is just WRONG! Always remember that, when you audition, it is much better to go in with something more appropiate for your age. Look through some of the earlier Cole Porter pieces for instance. Good luck!

I was recently in Seussical in July as a Bird Girl. For the Sour Kangaroo, try anything that will make you belt like crazy.
Think Aretha Franklin.
For the bird girl, it depends on which range you are. I was the low alto, so I auditioned with Amayzing Mayzie from Seussical.
If you want to try something else from Seussical with a higher range, go for "Notice me Horton" or anything else Gertrude sings.
Good Luck! Its a fun show to do with community theater!

Posted: 8/23/06 at 2:55pmI don't know much about this show, but I have an audition for it. What style of songs would be good? I don't know what characters would be appropriate. I'm 21 and can sing anything from alto to soprano 1, but my mezzo to soprano 1 are probably my strongest. If you could tell me what the characters are like and some audition ideas, I would appreciate it!

Well, for you I would go for Gertrude or Mayzie. Gertrude is more sweet when she sings, and Mayzie belts a lot.
It all depends on if you have a good belt or more of a sweet voice.

heyyy! I was gertrude last year in this show! I auditioned with "somewhere that's green" from little shop. I would say to audition with the song that you are more comfortable with, however if you REALLY want the kangaroo to do one that's a little more belty, just make sure you're super confident in it. Also Gertrude has to belt quite a lot in "all for you" and in "amazing Gertrude" everyone seems to think mayzie belts more but that's not really the case lol. I guess it depends on how you work the show though. Anyways you don't want either one of those parts soo it doesnt matter haha. If you want a birdgirl part I would audition with something that's going to show your ability to blend well with others as well as belt, because the harmonies they have are sweet :). Maybe try something from hairspray? It's a little overdone but I think it would work well!
Our sour kangaroo actually auditioned with "good morning baltimore" which in my opinion is craziness but hey when it comes down to it it's all what the directors vision right!?
hope I could help if you have any more questions about the show or audition help just send me a PM, I LOVED doing this show. sooooooo much fun :)
