Seussical Auditon: Mrs. Mayor

So I'm auditioning for the role of Mrs. Mayor in Seussical Jr. with a children's theater company that I've done one show with before. I'm a 15 year old mezzo, and I'm trying to find a song that's not too overdone for my audition. I would usually consult my voice teacher, but due to scheduling mess ups, I won't see her until after the audition. I'm considering singing Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls, or Cockeyed Optimist from South Pacific. Any other song suggestions? Thanks!

Does she even sing solo in the Jr version? I don't remember that she does....or that she has very much to do at all.

The only thing I would say about Adelaide's Lament is that it's done, By many.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
