My two absolute favorites are "The Good Fight" when Aiden moves in and "American Girl in Paris" (both parts). I just love when Carrie is hanging out in Paris all alone and is completely miserable and they play all the sad French music in the background. It's so sad, yet so amuzing at the same time. I especially love when she is eating (A LOT of) food in a little cafe and there is a huge dog sitting next to her and she feeds him a piece of bread and the next shot she steps in dog poop! I love it!
this show is by far my biggest guilty pleasures! Sarah Jessica Parker is amazing.
Once upon a time I was a shy young thing
Could barely walk and talk so much as dance and sing
But let me hit that stage I wanna take my bow
Cause Mama I'm a big girl now!

"i love the episode where 98% of the people have no clue what is going on but for the handful that do - hilarious results ensue."
I loved that episode too. It's and old and overused story line, where someone takes something at face value, has no idea what's really going on behind the scenes and, inevitably, things evetually blow up. However, in that particular episode, it was funny becasue the writers were able to give it a fresh approach.
There are a few others but posting anything about the storylines would probably get the thread deleted.

Are you thinking "funky spunk"?
I'm obsessed with this show - I only got into it in the 6th season, and bought all the DVDs last year so I could get caught up and now I watch them all the time!
I think season 3 was the funniest season but season 6 did an amazing job at showing all the women's progression, especially Samantha and Miranda.
Any thoughts on the ending? I love the American Girl In Paris episodes, but I have to admit that I wasn't thrilled that Carrie and Big got back together. He seemed to be the epitome of the Toxic Bachelor from season 1, and I wasn't convinced that he had stopped taking Carrie forgranted by season 6. Aidan was the best boyfriend she had. Exclamation point.

Posted: 10/24/05 at 6:59pmI remember reading a prediction before it aired, that some scholar said that since the show was essentially a Jane Austen novel come to life, Carrie HAD to get back with Big. That it was their destiny.

Hmm... Do you agree? A few of my friends have argued this point as well - that while she seemed better suited for Aidan "on paper", she was destined to return to Big. I viewed the show as a celebration of successful, single, career women who - although they look for sex and romance - don't require it to be happy. (Which is why I loved Miranda's rant in the middle of the series, when she bitched out the other girls for constantly having their relationships as topics for conversation, and questioned if this is what they've come to, when they have nothing more intelligent or stimulating to discuss.) I would have been thrilled if the other three women had paired up, but Carrie remained single and was at peace with this at the end. (Confirming that she is indeed "single and fabulous - exclamation point!") It doesn't help that I also found Mr. Big to be very smarmy and condescending (every time he greeted her as "kid", I cringed).

Posted: 10/24/05 at 8:18pmI've finally sucked it up and started buying one season per paycheck (just finished S4 last night), and I'm readdicted. I remember being pissed that Carrie and Aidan broke up a second time, but they *needed* to. I'm not a Big fan, but he couldn't have been more right when he said Carrie wasn't the marrying type. Steve's my perfect guy though. Oh god, I really need to find my Steve. Anyway, one of my favorite episodes is when Miranda's mother dies. I also love when Carrie becomes fashion roadkill and when she dates the younger guy.

I do like Steve...very much so. (Just ask Ellie3 about these strange recurring dreams I kept having!
) Aidan's simply my dream guy though - perfection (especially when he came back the second time and lost all that weight and looked mighty suave). I hated that they broke up the second time, but I think they should've made Aidan come off like more of an asshole building up to that point, otherwise it's hard to pit him as the bad guy in just this one instance. (And frankly, while he was out of line to say if she didn't want to marry him then, she's never want to marry him, he WAS right in not trusting her!)

Im quite attached to the whole Carrie and Big thing.... Big reminds me very much of a friend of mine and the relationship we have.... Only we wont wind up together at the end of our story. At least, I dont think we will. lol
I always thought Big had a very endearing quality and it was evident he loved Carrie very much. Then again, Im a sucker and have been stuck in this kind of 'relationship' for a long time.

I would have been thrilled if the other three women had paired up, but Carrie remained single and was at peace with this at the end.
Actually, I believe this WAS the original concept on how the series would end. I remember reading an interview with the writers right when it was announced that the 6th season would be the last. They said that Carrie had to remain single and happy, because that was the whole point of the show.
I think over the course of the last season they changed the concept to cave in to all those rabid fans who wanted Carrie back with Big.

Posted: 10/25/05 at 1:20amAny news on the movie? I think Harvey would be a hysterical Carrie. Could you just imagine? Hearing that voice all through the whole movie? Who would be a good Miranda? I think Jen Simard would be great. She is so talented she could do anything.

Wow, Ray, how could I forget about "Ex and the City"??? I love love love that episode!! The homage to The Way We Were is priceless.
Steve is my guy, too. I just love him. I love the fact he's been there all along and that he's a good guy with a heart of gold. That line of his at the end of "One"- "Miranda, you're the one" - just kills me every time. Ahhhhhhh....
Also, I just remembered "Running With Scissors" - where Carrie is having an affair with Big and Natasha finds out and, while running after her, falls and really hurts herself..That was such a sad episode.
