You are so right! She's one step away from being a prostitute.

Even DFW himself would be appalled at this.

Sue, you should qualify that statement.
She's the top female athlete/product-pitcher but NOT the top earner on the tennis court. And her title count and on-court prize money earnings pale in comparison to that of several of her predecessors and contemporaries.
I don't dislike Masha or begrudge her success at pushing product off the court. But, like Kournikova before her, her product placements have now eclipsed her record on the tennis court. And now that she's coach-less, she's not likely to win more than 2 matches at the upcoming US Open.
If she doesn't find a coach who will coddle her to death real soon, I see her exiting the sport next year after a dismal season.

it kind of makes my point, that even though shes hasnt one as much as serena and others. she really is the golden girl of madison ave.
you might be right though, she needs to find a real coach

She's had several including former champion Jimmy Connors whom she recently fired.
Arguably, Masha's celebrity & success off the court have gone to her head like many of today's pampered athletes and entertainers after a short season in the limelight. When she first hit the tour her personal narrative was compelling and her hunger and will to win were readily evident.
She can now earn as much peddling sugar-coated morsels and trinkets off the court as she can battling her biggest nemeses and the elements on a tennis court.
Considering that she all but gave up her childhood to lift her family up as well as the occasional trophy, I can't say that I blame her for focusing on her personal brand at this point, even at the expense of tennis. Tennis pros tend to have a short shelf life on tour and most quickly fade to obscurity after retirement.

Exactly javero. the Williams get all the hype for making it out of Los Angeles!! but you rarely hear anything about Maria making it out of the USSR
Anna Kournikova had it even worse and tuffer.
I will disagree with you on one matter don't forget she had a career almost ending shoulder surgery that she came back after a lot of hard rehab

A few years ago I attended a breast cancer fundraiser at La Costa in California. It was do in conjunction with a women's tennis classic. There were about 500 in attendance. Sharapova arrived at the dinner a little late following a lengthy match with her hair still dripping wet from a quick shower. She visited most of the guests at each table. Later, during a live charity auction she bid on a pure breed golden retriever puppy against an obviously wealthy couple. The bidding got to about $20,000.00. Sharapova won. She wrote a check for the puppy and then gave the puppy to the people who had been bidding against her. Yes, she can well afford it; but it was a lovely gesture.
No one is perfect. To me her sins seem pretty minor.
