Disgruntled Chic-Fil-A employees should probably go after Chic-Fil-A, not FRC. Why there's a connection, I don't know.

Chick Fil is still doing God's work, and people are still claiming it was about nothing but free speech, as evidenced in this very recent opinon piece where no mention whatsoever is made of the money that Cathy donates to HATE groups. Also "Cathy puts his beliefs before profit, yet his profits grew 13% in 2011."

Count me among the old and jaded, Phyl. I've agonized over this- I live among VERY (VERY!) conservative folks who do say stuff like "I ate at CFA and wondered if you'd be mad at me" and I immediately got people asking me about this. I did some mush mouthed piety but then when one flaming right wing ****bag brought it up I snapped "Yep! He tried to kill that guard for being straight and Christian. So the score is one for us and 45,877 for you but I have a feeling we're going to have an AWESOME couple of innings!"

Also, apparently Dan Savage and Brian Brown has their debate last night (video to follow, per JoeMyGod). I wonder how that went, what with the timing and all.

By a vote of 10-9, today the Jacksonville City Council rejected a bill to protect gay residents from housing and employment discrimination. Seven of the "yes" votes came only after transgender protections had been stripped from the original bill.

Well of course, Dan Savage got Brian Brown to see the errors f his ways. How else would that end?

I want to know what was on the menu? Did Dan have the meal catered or did he and his husband cook a nice home cooked meal? Was there any entertainment? This should have been a live event on the internet.

The event, in its entirety and unedited, should be on YouTube soon.
You guys know that NOM and the like are going to scream about it later, and say it was manipulated. Can't wait!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have not heard once throughout all of this Bryan Fischer,Tony Perkins,or Brian Brown once say they are praying for the shooter and his family.I've seen no compassion towards this troubled young man. Not once have I seen any examples of Christian generosity. Instead I've seen hatred, anger, judging, intolerance, and distortions of the truth.
Throughout this entire crisis, these "Christians" and men of God have not acted on the teachings of Christ.

The real victim IS the security guard.
No. He chose to abet oppression and I have no sympathy for him.

Kdogg, I think that's a bit of a leap. We have various guards from a security firm, and it wouldn't surprise me if half of them didn't even know what business we're in.
And even if he did know, in this economy people take what jobs they can get.

As far as I know, the guard didn't work for FRC, but for the building.
And even if he did, I still wouldn't advocate him getting shot.

Yepp. No one deserves to get shot for what they say or think no matter how annoying.

Why shoot someone who has no power to do anything? That's the stupid part.
"Hey, I know you only work here and have no say in company policy, but I'm going to shoot you to prove a point!"

Just to be clear, I don't advocate that anyone get shot. I merely don't have any sympathy for him, as I said. Regardless of who was paying his paycheck, or how desperate he may have been for a job, he chose to work in the service of evil people bent on using the power of the State to keep us down.

Even if he's just working for a security company contracted to be security for the whole building?

So the wife whose husband bought the wrong pair of panties at Victoria's Secret can shoot the security guard?

Yes, I still have no sympathy. I realize this may be a failing on my part, but it's just not there.

Wow. Something tells me you may lack empathy. Or you're just a jerk. Or you don't understand that many people in this country don't have a choice where they work.

Do you have sympathy for the security guards working at the World Towers?
They were just doing their job, too.
