from today's IMDB "news" :
Plummer Snubs 'Sound of Mucus' Reunion
Veteran actor Christopher Plummer stands accused of snubbing The Sound Of Music's 40th anniversary reunion because he is embarrassed of the hit musical. Cast members united for a party in New York to celebrate the release of a commemorative DVD, for which Plummer provides much of the commentary, but his absence left many speculating he'd rather forget the film. Rodgers & Hammerstein Society president Ted Chapin tells website PageSix.com, "He used to refer to it as the 'Sound of Mucus'. It wasn't one of his favorite things." Plummer blamed his non-appearance on work commitments. He has been shooting Spike Lee's Inside Man, alongside Clive Owen and Jodie Foster.

Okay, he didn't make the Tavern On The Green reunion, but if he was trying to distance himself from the film, he wouldn't keep participating in the extras, and appearing with Julie Andrews (On Golden Pond and A Royal Christmas tour)!

I remember clearly seeing this one Saturday afternoon in May, 1965, in Tampa, Florida. The screen was huge, and I was mesmerized from the opening seconds. Nothing compares to seeing this on the big screen.
"The hills are alive with the sound of music...high on a hill stood a lonely goatherd...i have confidence in sunshine...silver white winters that melt into springs...you must have had a wicked childhood...i am seventeen going on eighteen...do, a deer...follow every byway till you find your dream...every morning you greet me..."

I never liked this musical until I met my partner, who adores it. It was always too scary for me (nuns and Nazis).
Then PalJoey'sPal sat down with me and made me watch it and I was hooked.

I grew up with this movie and even now, nothing can make me smile like a spoonful of Julie Andrews. She epitomizes class, grace and talent and this movie is a wonderful display of her qualities.

Posted: 11/21/05 at 10:39pmI agree 100% with nia. This was the first musical I ever saw onstage. That doesn't have anything to do with Julie, but we got the movie right after that, so I've been watching it ever since I was like, 3 or whatever. Classic.

Ah, a nod to MARY POPPINS, Glebb! The first time I remember seeing anything with Julie Andrews, it was one of her television shows, with Robert Goulet, and I fell in love, madly, truly, deeply. I actually saw STAR! and LITTLE MISS MARKER, before I saw THE SOUND OF MUSIC or MARY POPPINS.
