I dunno if there is a thread about this already (and sorry if there is) but who saw the movie Sin City? It came out last weekend (I think) and I recently saw it last night. I did like it, although it was violent and bloody for my taste. It made me laugh alot. But Elijah Woods gave me the creeps after watching that. I'm hesistant to watch my dvds of LOTR now. At least, for awhile.

I thought it the look was brilliant, except for there was too many characters to care about and I'd cut out about ten (namely Hardigan and Nancy). I thought the story should've focued more on the cops/prostitue thing with Old Town...
Anyway, just my 2 cents.

i thought that it was great. Not the best movie i have seen though. While it was gorey, the acting i found to be nothing but great, especially micky rourke.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Great visual style, delicious dialogue, slick score, tight editing, great ensemble, and booming sound design. Mickey Rourke was outstanding, and stole the film completely.
The movie gets a lot of crap for being sexist, and I just don't believe that. True, most of the women are strippers and hookers, but nearly ALL of the guys (and there's a lot of them) are scum in the worst way; dirty cops, druggies, pedophiles, rapists, ruthless assassins, and cannibals (!).
(SPOILER ALERT) Also, the women seem to be much stronger than the men. When Junior is beating Nancy to a bloody pulp, she doesn't cry, even though you can see that she wants to. On the flip side, if you mess with Miho, Gail, and the gang, you'd better run. Fast.
And, contrary to popular belief, I also think that the film has a firm moral center.

Alba surprised me as Nancy. She was so sexy and so sweet. After realizing what a good person Nancy was, I felt bad that I was lusting after her for several minutes.

Posted: 4/9/05 at 11:23pmSaw it today. Loved it!!! It's definitely an exercise in style over substance, and it's a little too long (could have been trimmed by 15-20 minutes), but nonetheless it's a thrilling and fun ride. Try to see it at a theatre that's showing it in Digital. The picture and sound quality are out of this world!

I absolutely love this movie! It is bloody beautiful. It's so well photographed and well acted... that even if it gets too gory, you can't look away.
Personally, the Nancy and Hartigan story was my favorite! And the Quentin Tarantino scene was my absolute favorite part! Loved everyone, especially Clive Owen, Benicio del Toro, Bruce Willis, and Mickey Rourke.
It's an absolutely mesmerizing film.

EDIT: Dammit, you beat me to it.
*spoiler*
I'm pretty sure Tarantino directed the scene with Clive Owen in the car where he hallucinates that the dead Benicio del Toro is talking with him.
