at least if I say he's my hero I can't be accused of being a homophobe.

Oh, the tragedy! He outed Madonna's lip-synching -- but does anyone really want to hear this vocalist-childrens book author 'live?' I mean, we're not talking Patti LaBelle.

I figured that was what mom meant.

re: Sir Elton John....

Elton John is a washed up old bat who is slowly turning into Joan Rivers on the rag. First his bitchy comments to the press about Renee Zellweger's "eating disorder" and now this. I don't worship Renee or Madonna or anything, but come on! It brings to mind a Pansy Division lyric, "He thinks he's Oscar Wilde/But he's really Paul Lynde/He's a negative queen/He's a negative queen."
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

re: Sir Elton John....

BTW, here's the full lyrics for Negative Queen:

He thinks he´s oscar wilde, but he´s paul lynde
Can´t say anything good about anything
He flips his cigarette with disdain
You´ve failed to live up to his standards again
He´s a negative queen, he´s a negative queen
He reads all the latest magazines
He´s quick to fallow, but thinks he´s in the lead
He was there and you weren´t
You´re out of it, you´re not current
He´s a negative queen, he´s a negative queen
He drips disdain, he´s lacking tact
He´s popular in a scene
Where being nice is a radical act
Everything´s got to be just so
If it´s not, he´ll let you know
Don´t put up posters on castro street
He´ll rip them down so he shop in peace
He´s a negative queen, he´s a negative queen
He struts into a bar with swagger
Stumbles out later with a stagger
Spent half his life in a bar
Now he looks so haggard
No sympathy for a braggart
Everything´s got to be just so
If it´s not, he´ll let you know
Darling, you simply haven´t lived
Unless you´ve lived like him
He´s a negative queen, he´s a negative queen

re: Sir Elton John....

Just can't let all this go by, though I'm probably wasting my time. Yes, Elton is getting old - I guess the rest of you are "younging" as time goes by. And he's always been subject to the occasional fit of bitchiness. However, the rest of the time he is very supportive of other artists, talking them up in Interview magazine and otherwise being helpful to people like the Scissors Sisters, Mary J. Blige, Rufus Wainwright, Ryan Adams, Diana Krall, the Darkness, and John Mayer, among many, many others. Very true, he's overweight, but I find that preferable to the serious bulimia that gripped him in the 80's. He's been on a serious diet and fitness program lately though - maybe that accounts for his recent bouts of bad temper!

re: Sir Elton John....

Madonna lip-synched for years and years and we all know it. Even her publicist's statement says specifically that she didn't lipsynch on the Reinvention tour - in other words, they are not even bringing up the old tours because then of course they'd have to admit to the lipsynching. Doesn't mean Sir Elton hasn't turned into a nasty old queen. He has been rather publicly dismissive of people of late. But he's right on this one - not that it was necessary nor appropriate to say it when he did.

re: Sir Elton John....

Obviously, eating everything that isn't nailed down hasn't made him any less bitchy. So maybe he should go back to being bulimic.
And Madonna doesn't lip-synch.

Of all the celebritites in the World, Sir Elton seems like he'd be the most fun to hang out with.

I rather hang out with a pack of hungry dingos than spend two minutes with you.

Oh wait, was that a personal insult? I'm sorry.

Rodney... feel free to personally insult me all you like. Being insulted by you is like getting a love letter from a leper.
