A friend treated me to a complete set of dvd's of this Canadian series about a Shakespearean theatrical troupe. I have only watched three episodes so far, but I am finding the writing and acting quite clever and effective. Leads include Paul Gross, Martha Burns and Rachel McAdams. The character actors filling out the large cast of characters are outstanding. Anyone else know and/or like this series?

I love Slings and Arrows. It's pretty goshdarn awesome! I do get REALLY INFURIATED with a decision Kate makes in the first episode of the second season, but that's my only real bugbear. In my experience, any TV show that has Paul Gross as a leading character who talks to dead people is A-OK! :3

One of my favorite TV things ever. I've given a few sets myself as gifts!
This is a winner all the way ..... and when you get to the 3rd season, there is added poignancy involving actor William Hutt, who died not too long after completing his role as an aging Shakespearean actor.
Bob Martin, one of the creators of this show, was also responsible for the book of The Drowsy Chaperone, and played Man In Chair on Broadway.

I like what I've seen of it. The show's attempts at comedy aren't always successful, they go a little over the top and get cutesy. But Paul Gross is always engaging to watch, and the series about the production of KING LEAR had lots of interest.
I initially bought the first two seasons because I was going through a crush phase on one of the actors who appeared in the second season and wanted to see more of his work. Then I got into the show. (and I wound up meeting the actor at a show he did in nyc, and got over my crush very quickly)
I think it's one of the best TV series ever and certainly the best about theatre (although it's not like they're a lot).
Love this show. There are a lot of "in" jokes relating to the Stratford Festival which most everybody in the series has appeared in . The King Lear sereis was very touching w lots of macabre humour. "It's a death thing"
I have this on my Netflix list and am looking forward to seeing it. I've enjoyed Paul Gross since his Due South days. I've always tried to pinpoint who he reminds me of and it recently struck me that it's a young Larry Hagman.
I have to say, I was over a friend's house just last night and we watched the first couple of episodes, and I was bored to tears. I'd heard so much about the show, but...I just don't get what the fuss is about.

I keep having a bit of a Colin Firth/Mr. Darcy reaction to Paul Gross. It's the eyes, I think, and the dark longish hair.
I have just finished Season One.

My favorite line so far, by Geoffrey, "Look, Topper,..."
