Smallville to end next season

Should have ended 3 or 4 seasons ago, but I am happy/sad that they have another season to tie everything together. I am praying Green Arrow gets his own show. That and that Michael Rosenbaum appears in at least an episode or two.

I can't be the only one who saw this thread title and thought, "Smallville is still on?"

Yup. I thought the same thing!
"Smallville has been on the air since Tuesday October 16th 2001"
10 years?!

It hasn't even been 9 years, Diva. More like 8 years and 7 months.

he actually never moved to Metropolis... he still lives in Smallville on the farm and he basically runs to work...
i'm so glad they announced the 10th season as the last... as much as I love the show and have watched faithfully since day one, i am glad they are going out on a high and not a wimper... and that they get to create a finale ahead of time... i love when shows know this from the beginning of the season instead of being canceled halfway through... and although there were some not so good seasons, they have kept the show really fresh and still exciting... and hey... it's the longest running Superman based television show in history
I just hope he FINALLY freaking learns to fly!!!
oh and for those of you who love the show... Allison Mack aka Chloe is no longer going to be a series regular... here's the article

Honestly, I'm just glad that they get a Season 10. Also I'm happy that they get a long time to plan a final season and final episode, as opposed to shows like Dollhouse, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, and the recent Heroes, where a season finale has to serve as a series finale and/or the season has to be rushed to add in as much as possible.
Smallville has had a very good run and is surprisingly still good, with this past season being one of its best. The closer they get to him actually being Superman, the happier I am. Well actually, the more shots of Clark and Oliver shirtless, the happier I am. But I'll settle for the red and blue.

Why would she stick with the show for 9 seasons and decide to leave during the last season?

I don't even remember why I stopped watching this show. It's not like Heroes, where it was really good and then it really sucked. It basically always sucked, so you'd think I could have stuck it out longer.

I've watched since season one -- some of it has been very good, some of it has been very pedestrian. They've always said "no tights, no flying" -- wonder if that will hold true...

Phyllis, I thought exactly the same thing! This is even stranger than Heroes. I thought Smallville ended YEARS ago. Is Barnaby Jones still on, too?

I always get Barnaby Jones confused with Barney Miller.

Really? I'm surprised ut hasn't at least registered on your radar as there is a fairly active thread about on this board.
I just love the show. I give it a pass and overlook all its flaws simply b/c I'm marrying Tom Welling some day.
But PLEASE don't say anything, he doesn't know yet.

tazzy, we can have a double wedding..you and Tom, me and Matt. :)
I've never really watched the show but I always knew what was going on (I'm obsessed with Supernatural, and most fans always talk about both). They did move SPN to Friday nights after Smallville, so they both end their series together.

Oh Tink, don't even get me going with Supernatural. So hot.
When the CW released their Fall schedule yesterday they included some really juicy tidbits about what to expect this season. I'm linking it as opposed to copy/pasteing the text b/c some might consider these spoilers:
(there is a nice promo shot of Jared and Ansen too!)

I saw that earlier. The promo shot is actually from Season 1 I think. Jared has beefed up quite a lot since then and is doing some weird long hair thing instead of the whispy bang/gilmore girl hair.
It's pretty much what I expected - angst and brooding. but as long as we get some pretty cool demons and some great Dean one liners (shirtless would be even better) AND that Cas is still on.....I'll be ok.

I started watching Smallville in 2001 when it first aired and gave up after the first few seasons. After lending some of the DVDs from the early seasons to a friend, he turned me back onto it. And I really have to admit that it's a lot better than I had remembered. Though the whole Lana impossible love thing bothered me when I first watched (and was one of the main reasons I stopped watching), I found that aspect bearable the second time around. I even enjoyed her harder side, as it at least differed from the usual whining princess crap.
As for Supernatural, after resisting watching the show for years, I finally gave in and rented the first season. I then spent a good few weeks devouring the entire series. I'm kind of obsessed. I consider the two series night and day, as Supernatural is actually really good. Not just "put up with because you love the characters" good, but legitimately scary, funny, intelligent, excellent goodness. Oh, and this past finale had me all kinds of bawling. Truly wonderful.
Oh, and thank you tazber for the spoilers warning. I only wish everyone else was as considerate, but still: thank you!

As long as you save Justin Hartley for me, I'm good. That man is sex wrapped up in green leather!

balling? Really? I was seriously disappointed with it. S3 & 4 finale, amazing, but this one, ehhh. There were parts I enjoyed but overall did not impress me.
I will have to netflix the one season of Smallville that Jensen was on. Oh, and the only other reason to get me to watch it is Justin Heartly who I fell for when he played Fox on Passions.

the season of Smallville... i think 4 or 5... the one with Jensen Ackles was probably the worst season, in my opinion.. for many fans it was also the worst... it was just really weird and it felt like they were definitely making it up as the season progressed... it was all about the search for stones that eventually became the fortress of solitude...

Didn't Jane Seymour play his Mom? I think Jensen and Lana were dating during that season.

yeah Jane Seymour played his mom... and him and Lana were dating.. their hope was that Jensen's (who actually auditioned for the role of Clark Kent but didn't get it but the producers loved him so they cast him years later in this role) character would be a series regular the following season but his show Supernatural got picked up so his character was written off...
