Oh, for God's sake! I realize I've had a couple of screen names here, but I've always been up front about who I am - there is never any question.
Who the F*CK are you that keeps popping up with different identities?!? Honestly, what is the problem with just sticking with who you are and what you believe, and letting that stand on its own?
I honestly don't get it - at all.

YWIW - honestly, what the Hell?!? It's become a regular occurance - and it absolutely flies in the face of having an opinion based on reputation!
I mean, people might have comoplete disdain for what I think and feel, but at least they have some context to the opinion. This constant barrage of 'new voice' - which isn't new at all, but has no context - is just indeciferable!
Why on earth should we or anybody pay attention to someone or something that just shows up out of the middle of nowhere and spouts an opinion?

What makes you think most of us pay attention?

"Why on earth should we or anybody pay attention to someone or something that just shows up out of the middle of nowhere and spouts an opinion?"
Because, Q, this is America where everyone is equal, entitled to voice their beliefs and free to do whatever the hell they like...no matter how obnoxious, offensive or objectionable it may be.
Does that answer your question?

Well, it might answer the question.
But it doesn't mean I like it
WHY can't the folks who have the balls to stand behind their convictions be the ones to participate?
Oh, nevermind.
I'll just go back to my silly, brightly lit and colored world - which I dearly love, by the way!

Miss P, they have the right to their opinions, and we have the absolute right to ignore the opinions of those who have not demonstrated they are worth our time or consideration.

Sorry man, I wasn't trying to upset anyone. I found this place yesterday when I was looking for info on the In the Heights rush. This was the first place that showed up while I was googling.
I just saw a discussion about something I care about and felt like adding my $0.02.
No harm intended.

Well, dear, sweet, naive Q, you see, people who have "real" relationships don't have to hide behind anything--including their computer screen--to say what they think. They actually have human friends.
(YWIW, I was being IRONIC!)

Hamilton - giving the benefit of the doubt, please accept my apologies if your tale is true. We've just had a history here that has led to . . . well, cynicism.
And MissP - being called 'naive' at this point in my life is just so sweet - I love it

Miss P, it is true though, people have the right to say anything they want. And, unfortunately, you are such a genuinely nice person, it is hard for me to tell when you are being ironic.
And, H3, if you are who you say you are, then welcome. But, history has shown that when people show up, and the first thing they do is jump into the OT political threads, that they are usually a former poster who has come back into a different incarnation.

Buckminster Fuller said, "Dare to be naive." I love that.
YWIW, the phrase, "do whatever the hell they like" should have been the dead give-away. I do not believe that people should be able to do or say "whatever" they want without regard for anyone else. It makes me crazy when people pull that argument out of a hat when they're being abusive or disrespectful.
I'm going to have to come up with a symbol to add to my "ironic" posts. I wish there were a little icon of an iron. An "ironicon"! (Ha ha ha)

It's no problem Q. I understand how that could be emmensely aggrivating.
And thanks youwant, i'll keep that in mind and try and show my face in other threads as well.
But anyway, back to the topic at hand. I really can't see why there has been such outrage over Biden. Yes, I understand he's not Hillary, he's just another member of the Old White Guy club, but really there was no way Hillary was ever going to be the VP candidate. Think about it for a few seconds. It would have been bad for BOTH of them. He would have likely have been over shadowed by her (and a number of the things she said about him during the campaign, and yes i realize Biden said some damaging things about Obama but they don't compare to damage HIllary's words could ahve done if turned around onto Obama) and her ex-president husband, and she would have spent 8 years festering and stewing in the number 2 position unable to do any actual governing. She can do more good by remaining a senator (or making a go at the state Mansion) and then wipe the floor with Biden in the primaries in 8 years when he tries to capitalize on being VP.

I don't know if it's outrage as much as disappointment.
it was so built up and drawn out that I think people were hoping for a surprise and galvanizing choice.
Biden ended up being a bit of an anti-climax.
I'm sure once the convention gets underway people will get excited about the ticket.
