Do you have photos from Mackinac Island? I have never been there, but my husband is from Michigan (in fact, I'm in Michigan right now, but not the "pretty" part), so he and his family have been to Mackinac often. Their pictures have always been stunning.

Next time, just buy a "throw-away" so you don't have to worry about the sand!
That was one of the nice things about the beach at Collioure...no sand, ROCKS! But, I gotta tell ya, walking on the rocks hurt like hell! (I did select some pretty ones to take home though...can't really do THAT with sand.
)

Well, I haven't had an actual vacation this summer, but I did manage to get away for the weekend a couple of times...
1)Mission San Juan Capistrano
2)The Huntington Library (San Marino, CA)
3)Trinidad, CA (right up on the Oregon border)

I went to Europe in July...I will post photos later...I'm in Atlanta right now so...
Europe was great though. I flew into Paris, France (my second time) and the feeling while driving through the city to our hotel was amazing and my breath was taken away again...just as if I had never been before. My father, my sister and I all went together...we had a private tour guide which was nice...expensive...but nice...and I have to say it was just fabulous. Eating lunch in the Jules Verne was one of the highlights of the trip...as well as staying at The Hotel Plaza-Athenee (it's not what it seems..we had lots of flyer miles and AMEX Reward points saved up). I had never been to Normandy before either...that was very special to not only myself, but my father as well...my father never cries, and he teared up at the American cemetary...hearing the stories of the soliders and such. That was really really special for me...not to mention looking out the window at the beautiful French countryside on the train to the Bayeux station was nice too. After that, we went on to London...which was a big change of pace...mainly because everyone spoke the english language (I am in French II, but trust me, I haven't mastered the language at all yet). It was my first time in England, so we also had a private tour guide for here as well. The highlight of the trip was seeing Westminster Abbey, and the Churchill Museum which was very well done...my father and I are big fans of Winston Churchill. I also really enjoyed our day trip to Oxford, and seeing all of the castles, and such...And then of course, we saw Billy Elliot, and Sunday in the Park With George which were both fabulous.

I went to Alaska... and saw a lot of mountains, a lot of trees, and a lot of water. That's about all that's in Alaska. The population of their entire state is less than that of Chicago. (600,000 people live in Anchorage - and that's more than half the state's population.)
